New Dark and vanilla Thief Gold

I'm playing Thief Gold with vanilla textures for the first time in years, as I've forgotten how they looked like. lol. After HDmod it's like going back in time... to 1999 ;) I'm enjoying it more than I though I would. Maybe next time I will try NecroAge, but for now, it's vanilla Thief, TFix and me.

Anyway, my question is: is the vanilla Thief Gold still without colored lights, even if running on New Dark? I thought it would be updated to Thief 2 look and feel at the very least.

No, the levels are the same, just running through the new engine, and still 16-bit lighting. Someone could go through and add colored 32-bit lighting now, but the old mission files are still the old mission files.

Is there any way to add moon to Thief Gold? I'm trying to use t2skies, but it's still a moonless night.

Thanks Abysmal, but I'm fine with TFix. I'm not sure I could stand those original models. ;)

Anyway, do you know anything about the moon? How does HDmod manage to get moon into Thief Gold? Is there a way to do it without using HDmod?

I've reintalled the game (gog version), repatched it with TFix (1.23, everything checked except old legacy engine), added NecroAge.

Still no moon in the game.

ah, forgot that NecroAge uses its own set of skies, and looks like Necrobob decided to not use moon. copy all dmls from \MODS\t2skies into \usermods and restart the current mission to get the original TFix skies with moon.

Weirdly enough I prefer the vanilla skybox - fits the "dark project" mood a little more IMO and is a bit more eerie. Also resembles the Windows 95 stars screensaver :p
