after playing morrowind for half an year, im beginning to get a little bored with the combat system. yeah, i know it looks pretty, and i know its really cool to beat the crap out of people that mock u, but in the end it just feels like button-mashing (when ure a warrior that is!!). well, i decided to try and make a new combat system:
the thing i have taken interrest in is the limit-break system in the ff-series (final fantasy for those who dont know). it works like whenever u take or make a hit, a gauge fills up. when the gauge is at the top, u unleash a dead cool move called a limit break (or overdrive for u who play ffx).
to complete this in morrowind, every race gotta specify themselves in two types of magic (i haven't decided what magic for what race). the magic types the races specify in gotta be set to 100 (so there is almost no chance the spell will fail).
then u add some CRAZY spells to a specific shop (i would choose arrile). these are the limit breaks. an example on a limit break is a conjuration spell that conjures all the three astronacht (did i spell it correct) at the same time.
now comes the tricky part: i gotta create a weapon that fortifies intelligence/magicka by 1 point for let's say 60 sec. on self. this is cast when strikes.
this is my largest problem because i dunno if this is possible.
now u can do the math: u got a CRAZY spell that cost 60 magicka and it got 100% spell chance. ure magicka is about 40. this means that when u have landed 30 hits on an enemy, ure magicka should be fortified by 30 points (30+30=60!). now u can cast ure limit break!!!
i think this looks like a great idea. the only thing is that i got alot of problems because im a n00b with the cs system.
prob 1 is that i dunno if its possible to fortify mana when weapon strikes.
prob 2 is that i dunno how to make CRAZY spells/limit breaks in the cs.
prob 3 is that i dunno how to add items/spells to shops.
if i manage to solve these probs, i should be able to create the limit break system.
plz share ure thought around this idea and plz help me.

It can be done with overly complicated scripts that would take alot of work to make. I tried scripting once... but because of all the if-then stuff you have to put in them, I figured it wasn't worth trying some of the stuff I wanted to do.
Conjuring multiple monsters usually kill systems. I hated those mods that added items that would summon you an army of x monsters... atronachs are especially bad because of the particle effects.
Also... don't add anything to arrille. Too many mods give stuff to arrille. Make your own npc to sell your spells or something... but avoid editing seyda neen, balmora, and suran... too many people drop their mods or junk in those cities.
Combat in morrowind is not difficult in the first place... everyone gets to a point where everything will die in 2-3 hits anyway.

I'd start by learning HOW to use the editor before you start creating big plans and ideas.
I'd like to say Morrowind took years to make after Redguard (who knows for sure), I can also tell you that I have been working on a housing plan for 3 new strongholds with custom features like built in quests, butlers and to have the player make some decisions on the out come of the house and It's taking for ever ( almost 4 mts now) and I'm only done the few parts of the first house!
Take your time, find a good tutorial, then plan
