Conversion failed? There should be a lot more information than that...
You take the limit planes and joints (basically, everything except for the COMBINED_POLYSET group) from the Thief arm mesh I sent you.
For meshbld to work, you generally have to extract all the .map and .mjo files from Mesh.crf to a mesh workshop folder somewhere. It just asks for biped.map - it actually needs a lot more files.
Ah, I just checked, and there are no .map or .mjo files in System Shock 2's Mesh.crf - you'll have to get them from Thief 2.
If you want, I can just send you the whole folder where I keep all that stuff. It's a 750kb RAR file.

Sounds good to me! Cheers...

I reckon someone should get together all the tools... conversion tools, viewers, anim8tor, some mesh.crf files that aren't in ss2 and some tutorials... and stick them all together in a Modmakers Kit.
It'd be great for beginners, I've had alot of 3d experience and i've been suprised at how lost i've gotten quite a few times... just due to the lack of consistant information. I can see how so many people with grand modding ideas have been discouraged from continuing. Anywho, Nameless, thanks for the files, i'll get back into it when i get home tonight.

I was sent a bunch of files when I was bugging everyone through PM for help, Nameless included. If I can find anything useful out of them in my email I'll forward them to you.

That archive I sent you also included all the conversion tools, the BSP viewer, Shadowspawn's tools... everything except for Anim8or I think.

You should be getting a second window under the "Conversion failed!" message, with detailed information, like this:

Try deleting 3ds2bin.ini. Then, when the program asks you were the tools it needs are, point it to the folder where you put those files I sent you (including that version of MeshBld.exe)
EDIT: I'd also just slap some type of RGB texture onto all the joint boxes and limit planes. It's foolish to give each of them their own texturemap when they're never used (and might be confusing MeshBld).
Yeah, I know they were like that in the model I gave you, but I had to run it through AccuTrans 3D before Max would open it, which really likes to do that kind of thing with texture maps.

Heh, ya learn something new everyday!
I'll give it a go when i get home,
by the way i really appreciate your help.

Hrm, i didnt get that other window... When i extracted your files i noticed that there was a newer version of Meshbld.exe (2003 as opposed to 2000 or something like that) So that may be my issue. Are all the files you gave me the latest versions? if so i'll use them in the "Modmakers Pack".
If anyone has any other tools to send me, just .rar them and send to larabear@tpg.com.au.

I have no idea; I lost all my tools in a recent hard disk crash; those are whatever I've re-gathered since then.
You should ask Shadowspawn's permission first if you're planning to publicly rerelease his tools (bintoe, eto3ds, meshup, mattweak, rtgto3ds, meshscale*)
* I notice that I forgot to include MeshScale in that archive. It's not really that useful anymore now that we can convert .e files back to .3ds, though.
