Well, that seals it.

Eurogamer: Will a PC version of Alan Wake ever be released? Is it impossible now?
Oskari Häkkinen: I could never say it's impossible, but it's certainly not on the cards at the moment.
Eurogamer: Why?
Oskari Häkkinen: The size of our team and how long it would take us to develop the PC version. It's not a simple process. It's not something you can do in a month or two months. It takes time to do it right.
We want the Remedy brand to be a seal of quality. Doing a half-assed PC version wouldn't be an option for us. Rather, if we do it, we'll do it properly.
It takes development time. It takes resources. At this time it's not on the cards.
Given that it sold about two copies this side of fuck-all, we might see Alan Wake as a Windows 8 exclusive in 2012. I'm not holding my breath.
Thanks for Max Payne and the memories, Remedy.

So am I the only person on TTLG who has actually
played this game yet? Would seem a bit odd considering all the hype it got on these forums for years before it's release.
I just finished it. Here are some disorganized thoughts in bulletin-point-form:
* The story is a bit all over the place but mostly it does a good job of keeping your interest until the very end.
* It looks faaaaaaaaantastic! :D
* The combat is (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VIQKrPE8ZQ) super-awesome, and not quite like anything anyone has ever played before. :cool:
* The levels feel very open and there are plenty of opportunities for you to stray from the beaten path.
* The final level makes brilliant use of all those tornado physics and weather effects we saw in the videos years ago, but the story doesn't exactly come to a satisfying end.
* It's not scary, at all. :(
* The advertising isn't all that overbearing. I had no idea what brand the batteries were before I read it here, but in the final level there are TWO WHOLE Verizon billboards and when I saw the second one I was like ANOTHER ONE? WHY ARE YOU RUINING MY IMMERSION?
* There's a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds song on the soundtrack! :D
* There are quite a few Poets of the Fall songs on the soundtrack. :p
Not much else to be said. It's a solid game and now that it's dropped in price everyone who owns a 360 should consider picking it up. If you order it from play.com(where it's only 20 euros) you'll get the first DLC "The Signal" for free. At that price it's a must-buy.

Yeah, I'm seeking it out for Christmas. My friend wouldn't shut up about it, so I decided to get it myself because he convinced me.

I was looking forward to it but then it became an XBox exclusive so there you go Remedy no money for you that is all.
But on the other hand the reviews haven't been as great as I expected/hoped. The hype for this was pretty big and all the video I've seen does indeed look fantastic.

I am loving this game thusfar but I am obviously doing something wrong. I'm pretty sure I'm playing on the regular difficulty but I just don't have enough ammo to kill these things. I had to run away from one confrontation and get to a lamp post to get the darkness to go away, but then in the next area there was another confrontation that I can't overcome, I only have 6 rounds. I guess I could run back to the light again but they just come back out soon as you show up. I might be going the wrong way though, I dont see a way through. I'm lost in the forest....
Also I don't know about bad reviews, the game is stellar thus far.

The reviews were mostly in the 8/10 area, which is fair. The game both looks and plays great. It's just that it tries to be... more. And doesn't really pull it off.
Alchy, are you in the first episode? In some areas the enemies keep respawning, your best bet is just to leg it to the next safe zone and try to fend off the baddies best you can. Also you do know that you can only injure the badguys after you've aimed your flashlight at them long enough for them to flash, right? If you're shooting at them before they've flashed, you're wasting your bullets.
I just finished the DLC "The Signal". It's about 2 hours long, and it was pretty good. It introduces a new gameplay-element in the form of floating onomatopoeias like "Boom!" and "Blast!" littered around some areas. And if you aim your flashlight at these for a while they explode, or cause spurts of fire to burst forth. This, of course, is a handy and very satisfying way of disposing baddies. A nice variation on the old "exploding barrel" gameplay-element.

Alan Wake was just okay in my opinion. While the gameplay was pretty fun, it definitely got old by around the 3rd episode or so. The story had some cool stuff to it, but everything starts off so damned heavy-handed and the delivery is so simple (go here, do this) that most of the game felt both boring and almost like a ride.
It does score some huge bonus points for having a song by Poe, though.

HOLEE SHEET. This game is great fun starting off. Wow. I was so unimpressed after watching some video reviews and reading this forum's opinions. Glad I took a risk and bought it anyway. I got a deal on it too, $15 sealed. I am hooked. I may glue this to the drive tray and play it forever MUAHHHAHAHAH.

I've started to play it recently too, and have completed the first two chapters. It's different for an XBox Game and I think I'll probably see it through to completion.
Alan is a massive dick, though.

@Gunsmoke.
Have a look in the game case, there might be a sheet with a redeem code for the first DLC pack, "The Signal". There was in mine.
