Oh come on, what's the problem holmes? It's catchy pop, it doesn't proport to be anything else, and cliche or not the video features Ms Furtado gyrating around with a sexual energy that most other female singers can only dream of.
No real problem, buddy, I just find it an incredibly dislikable song - like, to the extent that the opening techo-funk beats set my teeth on edge.
Oh, and Shakira > * for hip-gyration-action.
PigLick on 21/12/2006 at 10:19
I like shakira and all, be she comes across as way to desperate, trying too hard. Also have you noticed that timbaland likes to put a little trademark 'shoutout' on the 4 and beat?

NO I HAVE NOT
But I have noticed how, during the chorus in "My Love", he tickles a hamster on it's belly to get it to laugh "hee hee he he heee heee"
That's the best part of the song.

I think thats actually just him gigglingover how much money he is making

To me that part sounds like a demented chicken.
Oh, and Scots, as I said the new DJ Shadow album is very different to his usual stuff. If you can't 'stomach' hip-hop give this one a wide berth. Then again, if you disliked The Printing Press because it was all a bit samey, maybe this is exactly what you need...

Talking of tickling hamsters, does anyone else love the rubber ducky backing that Timberlake put across My Love?
Did I say love, more like wtf is wrong with music.
And thanks, N'Al, I may check it out.

I initially heard a masturbating monkey. Talk about a musical rorschach test.
Amazing song, even if the lyrics are kind of dippy and T.I.'s rap is thematically out of place.

Just so you know, for props, I mentioned this to the wife while the song was playing and now she can't listen to the song without bursting into laughter.

#1 Black Holes and Revelations - Uh, I think it's all been said and I love the bombast
#2 The Eraser - I especially like Black Swan, Harrowdown Hill and Atoms For Peace but think most all are quite lovely.
#3 due to it being 1 of the three albums released this year that I have purchased - Loose. I didn't like it that much as I'm not a huge fan of hip hop. Whoa Nelly was a good album, Folklore was a GREAT album but Loose doesn't do it for me. Except for the Maneater video obviously
Honourable mentions due to me hearing them for the first time this year - PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea and Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights which are both fantastic albums. Stories... being the more fantastic as Turn... has a few not so good tracks.

This seemed like not a very good year for music. I can only manage to compile a top 3 list.
Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit It's fast becoming my favorite B&S record. Which I didn't think was possible considering how much I love If You're Feeling Sinister
Ghostface Killah - Fishscale not his best album (that would be Supreme Clientele), but it's still one of the best albums released this year.
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Monster this album is really really good, but it's also a little hard to listen to.
Honourable mention goes to a compilation/collage called Radio Algeria that was released this year on Sublime Frequencies. Crazy hybrid of styles including Berber folk, Arabic Pop, radio call signs, and I think they also play some old school soul as well. It's pretty awesome regardless.
