I'm right at the opposite from Bravil - at Nenalata, totally lost and desperate.
I'm in Sel Aran Arpena. There are stone stairs leading to the wall that is supposed to be an exit, according to the map. There is a small cavity of a rectangular shape in this wall, but neither can I "use" it nor escape any other way (except going the way I came but this would mean I had to leave the rest of this place alone, which is impossible). There is one thing about the stairs: when I look at them they are marked with a fist (like those altars and stones when you "use" them). I think it has to do with solution... Still whatever I try is no good...
EDIT:
Dam... It is lowered remotedly...Still I can't find that lever anywhere ='(...

It's part of a quest.
Further info:
A carving is placed there in the quest 'Secrets of the Ayleids', which opens up the rest of the location.

No problem.
If you're wondering how to get that quest, it's part of a series that follows on from 'The Collector'. Try selling an Ayleid statue and see if you receive an offer of employment. :)

I don't even have it yet, but sounds promising :) Besides, who knows what's gonna happen with that finger I'm carrying with me and supposed to deliver to Imperial City? If it rottens I'll fail to end the quest :p

Ayleid statues are located in various Ayleid ruins (about 9 or 10, I think). If you explore such a ruin and get one, sell it to a merchant and see what unfolds.
