Most stuff by London micro Meantime should do the trick. I especially like their take on IPA - ramping up alcohol strength and hop presence to American levels but sticking with English ingredients. Highly recommended.

Harveys brew a lot of really interesting beers.
Or you might want to go for Youngs Special London Ale - easily their best beer.
Fuller's Vintage Ale might be a good choice as well.
I'll second (third?) Adnams.

I wouldn't be that harsh. It's a decentish brew but obviously not a specialist choice.
