I'm not ashamed to admit it. When I'm not listening to DETH METUL O NO or obscure Japanese drone I'm listening to 70s pop and rock- back when music on the radio was worth listening to. So here's my question: can anyone recommend to me a good compilation album of 70s music? Especially 70s pop- I would say "love songs" but "70s pop" kinda covers that.
Early 80s also acceptable.

Looks like you found your man!
I know these things. A few years ago, during a massive downloading binge, I came across the top 100 Billboard songs for every year from 1955 - 2005. At one point, I decided to go through and actually tag all of them with genres. Which means that I spent a few evenings listening to the top 1000 songs from the 70's - every single one of them.
And you know what? IT WAS FUCKING EXECRABLE. Beyond what you'd expect, about 60% of the songs were some horrible lite-radio shite-as though every one of the singers had Barry Manilow's semen pumping through his veins. I even created a special "70's Schlock" genre for iTunes to lump all of that crap in. And that's what you're looking for? I mean, christ, could you have any WORSE taste in music? Just because it's aesthetically the opposite of the shitty music to which you normally listen, doesn't mean it's qualitatively the opposite.
There was some great music made in the 70's, but it damn well wasn't on the radio. This was when DJs were getting records with grams of coke in them to entice them to play the worst shit imaginable. On the whole, 70's pop songs are a barren wasteland devoid of musical talent, a whole decade whose popular musical output is the aural equivalent of brown polyester. I assure you, if you were to list the last 6 decades on the basis of "when music on the radio was worth listening to," the 70's would come in 8th.

Don't you have anger management self-help videos to jerk off to? 'Cuz, uh, I was hoping for a useful answer rather than YOU HAVE SHIT TASTE IN MUSIC, which I already knew.
And you can't tell me that the 90s weren't the worst decade in radio.

Top 100, Top 40, or pop formula failures? Obscure pop? Pop pop pop muzik? Bands that took themselves too seriously?
