The best way to learn is to simply 'do' it. However while that works with subjects like Algebra, Calculus, Programming etc it doesn't work with largely theory based stuff. So what you are doing is fine. Since you've only just learned this stuff it is very much attached to the 'page' you got it from. As you use this information over and over again you will start to understand it better and eventually it will become 'knowledge'.

Thanks for the support guys. Some might think that im make a big deal out of nothing but i've been accused of rote memorization and told I should not be doing it, specifically in aviation, idk some of these things are just long lists of regs and whatnot, hard to actually understand it all. Anyways, makes me feel a little better, i've been trying to be more proactive with learning in class (trying to figure it out before it's explained) and I think that'll help. Cheers

You need to learn how to learn? :p
No really though, good luck man.:thumb:

Your not bound to remember everything. Just make sure that the stuff your going to need to know for work sticks in your head. Of course that is usually accomplished by making you take a years worth of similar courses ie Biology 101 201 301 and 401 etc. I know what you mean though when I was going for my Computer Science degree I was just floating through class but it didn't seem that I was actually learning very much.

Actually this is vitally important. If you haven't done it naturally you need to do it asap, and even if you have learnt how to learn naturally you may need to tweak your methods. Seriously.

yeah, I don't doubt it I think the key is to be more proactive in thinking about material when learning it. I've been doing this since I posted this and things seem to be sticking a little better that way, like I'll read the slide heading or heading in a textbook and try to briefly guess what they're going to say, in general.
Hatching - thats interesting, I don't know if i mentioned but im aviation computer science which is computer science until the last few semesters, and I definatly know what you mean. Glad to hear I'm not the only one:D
