Hello, all, here's my problem:
Recently I bought a new a computer, a WinXP to replace my old Win98 that broke down, and now I'm reinstalling all the software I have.
However, I just learned I have a pretty major problem: my Thief 2 install CD got buggered in storage and is unusable. I can start the install process, but there's a spot where the CD is just unreadable.
Now, I'm trying to work up a quick fix for this, but I need some help. The way I see it, the installation does two things: A, it extracts the various game files onto the hard drive (this is the part I can't do right now due to the unreadable CD), and B, it creates the necessary entries in the system registry file. Now, since I made a safety backup dump of my hard drive contents before I got the new computer, I do actually have all the game files in their already-extracted state, and I could just copy them on my hard drive from the backup; however, the registry keys would still be missing, since my new computer and new OS came with its own registry.
So my question is: could anyone cite me the exact registry entries pertinent to Thief 2, so I could manually enter them into the registry? If this works, it would be a working solution until I get a new copy of the game; and if it doesn't, then I'll just remove them again, no harm done. Would be worth a try, I think, so I'd be grateful for the entries.

The only registry settings I know of are in
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Thief2.exe]
(Default value) is the path to Thief2.exe
"Path" is the path to the folder where Thief2.exe is, without the trailing backslash.
This is only used for the patch to find the Thief 2 install folder. If your game is at v1.18, then you don't need the registry entries.
And a working Thief install can be freely copied between computers, so long as you make sure to modify DarkInst.cfg to update any paths which have changed (unless your DarkInst.cfg is set to use relative paths, in which case you don't even need to do that.)

Thanks for the advice, it worked! I originally had some problems after simply copying the files, but apparently that was unrelated (probably related to patching with ddfix, but that too has been resolved).
