Okay, this is the first time I've played SS2 with a friend. We both have the game patched. Now, I'm confused as to how we set this up- I don't see a multiplayer button in the main menu. Am I just supposed to start an SP game with him connected to my comp via Hamachi? Or did something go wrong with the patch?
This seems like a really stupid question, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere.

Are you sure that you have applied official patch? If you have then there should be multiplayer button on the main menu.
Open SHOCK.CFG-file in your favourite text editor and check if there is "netplay_ui" string in it. If it isn't there then add it and save. If it is then there is something odd going on.

I just tried applying the patch, and it told me that my version is 2.3 but it expects 1.15. I'll try that edit you suggested.
Edit: What the hell? All I did was add in that tiny little bit of code you gave me, and BAM! Multiplayer! Thanks a ton, it works fine!
I'm glad there wasn't something really obvious I was missing :D
