I truly need help. I wanted to play thief gold missions but all I get is an error that says:
" Direct3d device driver does not accurately report texture memory usage."
I have a pentium 4 3.2 computer with a 1gig of memory and a 7600GT,512 NVidia video card. the video card it's drivers have been updated. It is truly frustrating.:( I checked the Q&A on the thief website but nothing works.
thanks.

Did you try all the things the FAQ suggests:
Quote:
Help! I only get a black screen or Direct 3D Device does not accurately report texture memory usage.Please Note:
If you are using an nVidia card with drivers in the 9x.xx range then the fixes listed below will not work. At present the only solution is to downgrade your drivers to versions in the 8x.xx range or below.
An error message that pops up when starting a level in Thief and Thief 2. You may not get an error message, you may see only a black screen. It primarily occurs on Nvidia Graphics cards running driver versions 5x.xx and above although there are several reports of it occuring on ATI 9xxx cards using new drivers.
If you are running Thief 2 you should remove the semicolon (;) from the line ;safe_texture_manager in the file user.cfg which you should open with Notepad.
If you are running Thief 1 you should download one of the patches linked below that corresponds to your version and overwrite the installed Thief EXE with the one from the ZIP file.
* (

* (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=726) Thief: The Dark Project v1.33 Direct3D Texture Error Fix.
* (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=727) Thief: Gold Direct3D Texture Error Fix.
So did you put safe_texture_manager into user.cfg or use Thief:Gold patch for that problem? If that doesn't work I guess that only solution is to downgrade your video card's drivers.

yes I did read all the FAQ but that did not work. And as far for the patch i tried that also.
But my other question is how come my post was moved and I notice a post from WhiteFantom asking questions about his video card?
I have a problem with my video card regarding texture and people seem to push me aside. this is just my observation
thanks
