I like the direction you're going with the second one, but it really needs some color. All that white would be washed out in the mostly white Gmail GUI.

I've been putting off saying this, but although I appreciate the effort, these just don't look good. Kolya's joke banner easily trumps these.

Hi, i know i'm just a newbie (my first post on my first day... :rolleyes: ), and i appreciate kolya's work(s) (strangebedfellows is simply fantastic), even i dont have actually a trioptimum.com mailing adress (i've already posted my request so i'm waiting for it...), but
i think that this logo doesn't fit very well. Beacause of two cases: Firstly, the graphics, the colors and the whole style doesn't match with the main screen of the mail.trioptimum.com (from shock2). Secondly, wrenches and orthopedic hats are really funny:thumb: , but i've thought that TriOp is/was/will be a nasty megacorp with dirty businesses in a cyberpunk world (like Tyrell, Liandri, United Aerospace) and their main protfolio doesn't contain hats from XX. century but military & consumer stuff, and other sinister high-tech R&D things (bastard AIs ruling labirinthic cyberspaces in their corporate network, mutagen viruses, cyborgs and so on...) Finally, hats and wrenches has little connection with webmail services or the Shock games.

First of all, try uploading your images as .jpg. .bmp files are not typically suitable for web use.
Secondly, those are some nice looking submissions (despite at least one spelling error). I'm not sure l like the "perfection through webmail" slogan though.
Also, you do realize the "orthopedic Hats" logo is just a joke logo? Our original, official logo was this one.:

I would suggest not using JPEG at all for such small images. Odds are they aren't very high-color either, so you're almost certainly better off with PNG or even GIF in order to avoid compression artifacts. For such small images, PNG isn't going to be much larger than JPEG (if at all), using lossless encoding even.
