* I'm back in London on 28th from my annual trip back to Glasgow and I for one will be taking advantage of two things:
* Shops are going to be going crazy in the week before New Year what with the 15% VAT rise going back up to 17.5% on Jan1st, so people will want to take advantage of that.
* I fully expect the Christmas Sales to be unlike anything we've ever seen before since the runup to this year's festivities have not been as profitable as expected so retailers will be keen to get as much cash in as possible - which good for us will mean lower prices! Woot.
While London is generally expensive; I found Rome to be significantly moreso.
Its expensive to live here, not to come over and shop, especially with the strong Euro.
Oh, and fuck the government for their bankers bonus :(

Ha! Quite the contrary; it'll be one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Most of the post-Christmas sales will start on that date. Some smaller retailers might be closed, I would guess most would stay open though.

Phew - thanks for that -- The tickets I booked are those cheap ones you can't cancel and change only after the flight is gone...
