I'm in that Illusion room with the switches and read in a walkthrough that I need a reveal scroll from a library. This the room with the snake lady near the King and right before the alchemist room?
Also, is there a character editor anywhere? I dump points in lockpicking and it is useless, wish I spent them elsewhere but don't want to restart.

Anyone? Five days later still haven't found one.

Or what runes you need to learn the spell?

Nhi Stregum Vista. ("deny/destroy magic vision")
"Nhi": brought in Arx, at Maria's shop
"Stregum": one copy at the Twin traders; another in the temple of Akbaa
"Vista": Felnor's chest
I've no idea if scrolls for this spell exist at all.
I wanted to play Arx again, thanks to your postings :) , but I got just too many bugs at first. A mad, seizure inducing flickering at first (fixed that); then the character moved suddenly at turbo speed (this stopped spontaneously after some restarts); occasional crashes to the desktop (I can live with those); but also two brutal BSODs... and I can't tolerate those.
So I won't refresh my knowledge of that game any more. :(

You could also go back to the lowest level of the crypts and dispel the forcefield. Beyond that is the magic helm. It reveals as long as you wear it. :thumb::cheeky:
As for the crashes and such, try the faqs to solve those problems. :thumb:
Lytha on 28/10/2009 at 16:05
The faqs don't cover the BSODs.

I apologise for the error, I thought they were covered. Maybe Windows 7 will help you.:(

Thanks. I'll see if I have the runes or go for the helm.
I had bad flickering when I first started. I modified some file and things work great now. Sorry to hear you were having problems Lytha.

Lytha, which version of Arx do you have? I had an old copy from years ago, but bought the latest v1.19 from GOG since it had some extra bug fixes. Also, running in native 1650x1080 is very sweet.
Couple problems I came across even with this version:
1) Light "halo's" appear through solid walls still
2) Setting the resolution to max (above) has to be reset every time you quit and start Arx
3) This one is more serious. Pickpocketing a couple times *will* cause the game to crash. It's something to do with memory allocation / overflow. Having realised this I started to savegame right before attempting a pickpocket, the problem is sometimes it will crash just when you bump into someone by mistake. The best you can do is save often and hope they patch this.

I've the version that came with an old video card of mine. It's patched to 1.17.
Hm... 1.19 doesn't seem to be concerned about crash fixes, but that very recent 1.18 patch does. I'm downloading that one now... lets hope that gamershell.com is a legit site and doesn't give me some sort of trojan.
However, I did only have the 1.17 all those years ago when I played the game, and it didn't give me those BSODs then.
First note after patch:
Well, the save still did have the wrong idea about the terrain the character is in (I'm on solid ground, and it sounds like he's wading through water). Since that was occuring quite before the crash, I'm wary.
But omg! That door infront of which I was standing during that save now has a TEXTURE! So rats aren't funny white objects now anymore? And wooden sticks also not? OMG! That might be almost worth some BSODs.
