One genre of music (among many) that I'm not well versed in is punk music... although I do like it. Now that I am thinking about it and not being lazy, I'm trying to find some decent punk bands. I have and have listened to some of the bigger classics (Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Clash... although the Clash is a bit more poppy to me), but I'm open to anything old or new that anyone thinks is worth listening to.

Big Black
Steve Albini always described them as a punk band.
Get "The Hammer Party".
Also The Only Ones. The best album is "The Peel Sessions"
Never got any real success due to too much heroin.
(bit like Steve Albini, but he went on to produce the Pixies and Nirvana)
I would say that these 2 albums are towards the top of my 10 most listened to albums.

Check out The Damned, The Stranglers, Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs and Xray Spex for more good early punk. I'd also recommend Sonic Boom Six, Capdown, Suicide Bid, Dropkick Murphys and The Living End if you are looking for more recent stuff.

Dead boys was the only ones I've ever had time for.

Not much of a punk fan, which is strange considering it's essentially a musical cousin to metal.
This thread should be useful to me. Thanks!

What about post-hardcore? I find that to be more palatable (example would be Beloved.)
