Hey all,
My wife just finished The Da Vinci Code (yes, we're slow when it comes to bestsellers). She loved the story and is looking for other mystery books.
i am a voracious reader, but i typically don't read more mainstream bestselling fiction... thus, i'm stumped. My wife does not like torture (emotional or physical), she does not like strong sexual content, and she doesn't go for stuff that gets dark in content (that's why i'm having a hard time... the fiction i read is generally pretty dark).
Any suggestions?

You can try Philipp Vandenberg's books, they're quite similar to the ones by Brown. Just better. Well, most of them are.

Your wife may want to try Dan Brown's other books (Digital Fortress, Angels & Demons). They're essentially written on the exact same structure, just with different words. :p

How about:
Who in the hell is Wanda Fuca by G.M. Ford. It's a good start to a whole list of mystery detective novels by this guy.
Snow Falling On Cedars, if you like a bit of romance with your mystery.
I'm afraid I couldn't really offer any book ideas as safe and happy as the Da Vinci Code though.

If she liked
De Vinci Code, and "conspiracy fiction" mysteries ... she would probably like Umberto Eco's books -
The Name of the Rose, Foucault's Pendulum, The Island of the Day Before...
And the
The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson.
Actually, here's a (
