I'm replaying and have a small problem with help tips. I know they show up in first level but problem is they continue to show up in the next level as well (which is where I'm at currently in warehouse before the docks). It never did this before and don't know why now?? But I'd sure like to know how to get rid of them as they are annoying. I'm playing normal mode and system is: Win98se.
I'm playing this on my old computer where it's been installed forever and have some FM's as well that are in Dark Loader/Missions and was playing TTGM-Parallel P. but reinstalled original save I had for T2 as usual so I could play. Nothing unusual took place during change over, etc., except the darn tips keep coming up, even on items that came up in the first level...i.e..flash bomb use, potions, et al, only a couple of things don't but most do. Please help me get rid of them out of my game. Thank you. :)

The tips will come up unless you play on Expert difficulty. You will have to restart the mission and select Expert. If the tips come up on Expert, something is wrong. We can't get rid of them for you without telling you to delete gamefiles. The lockpicking tips will come up in the next mission (Framed), but no mission after that has tips/hints, so you can play on whatever difficulty level without seeing them once you get past Framed.

I figured there might be some simple way to get into a file where you could just comment them out or some such but if I can't I guess I'll try to deal with it. I swear though, that when I've played in the past I've seen them in first level only. I've got lockpicks already and had to use them on a chest I think and also the tips about getting keys for door locks etc., but as I said they continue to show up in Shipping/Receiving which I don't remember seeing them there and every darn time I bring something up, it keeps telling me and telling me. :( I'm playing on Normal this time whereas I have played on Hard also in the past but never Expert. Not wanting to deal with those restrictions. :D But I can't remember if they showed up less in that mode, been long time since I've played.
I can't remember sequence of levels, but lawd I hope if I have to wait that long, I only hope it's next level...they are really distracting! Well OK then but I sure wish they would have put something in the options to check them on/off if you wanted them or not or at least after you've already played it, it should have automatically disengaged since you know what to do/use. I know this is all moot but I had to semi rant anyway. :D

Try this:
Locate the STRINGS.CRF file in the RES folder in your install folder.
Make a backup, of course.
Open it with an unzipping program, open PLAYHINT.STR in Notepad (turn off Word Wrap under Format), and try commenting out the choice lines and resaving it.
Also, as you know, it won't affect Garrett's helpful comments, but they don't seem to bother you as much.
