I've long since boycotted any songs with the words "pain" used in the context of emotional angst.
Because it's 99% shit. And I can't help but to physically
cringe when I hear lyrics like "the pain I feel is real". It's like, go away and come back when you can write a decent lyric, without using 100 year old cliches.
Paging My Chemical Romance to Nebraska thread. My Chemical Romance, please report to the Nebraska thread immediately.

My Chemical Romance aren't that bad really. But then, I don't think lyrics are particularly important in a song, unless they're just horribly, horribly bad. Which I admit they sometimes are. Fuck I am awesome.

Can you people hold a fucking conversation on topic or not? It went from "parents suck" to "gun control" to "emo music". Actually, that's a very simplified version of it, it teetertottered between all three topics more than once.
By the way, here is the reasoning behind more guns = less crime:
If you're planning to kill someone, and you know that when you take out your nine to bust a cap the other guy is going to have a gun (and he probably isn't going to just let you get away with blowing a hole in his stomach, be realistic here, plus while headshot = death is common knowledge, it takes practice to get any form of good aim) it kinda puts a damper on your revenge. After all, there's no satisfaction in killing someone when nine times out of ten if you're holding a gun in plain view, they (they being SOMEONE, ANYONE) are gonna kill you first, end of story.
Here's the reasoning behind emo music causes murder:
Emo kids whine and cry and thrash around. They wear black clothes and cut themselves. They whine to psychiatrists. They are angry but impotent cattle, these sorts. They want to kill, but they're too damn apathetic to do it. They will never hurt a fly. Then you have kids who listen to rock, pop, metal or punk. These kids are USUALLY outgoing. A little aggressive but not in a kill-people way. But when they're depressed or angry, they are a MAJOR danger to everyone around them because they don't know how to handle it. Emo kids are always depressed, they content themselves with whining and cutting and listening to bad music. Not constructive, but not dangerous. These other kids grow up in a world where Columbine is the way EVERY revenge is supposed to go, according to the media. They grow up playing Halo and Counter-Strike. They think of murder because that's the only answer they know of. They want to be heard, to be thought of, not to be ignored or to become a psychiatrist's guinea pig. So they go out and BLOW SHIT UP. That's the fault of society as a whole, IMO. Emo music ties in at the depressed part: people don't listen to these kids BEFORE they get that bad, because they think of the emo trend. This results in these kids getting attention-greedy (I CAN'T BLAME THEM), and the above idea forms in their head.
The reasoning behind gun control works is very simple:
Guns + angry people = dead people.
Remove guns from the equation and the angry people suddenly lack tools with which to make dead people.
This is a simple concept, and so most people go with it.
The reasoning behind parents fail:
See the first post.
And since I'm posting, here's my take on the whole thing.
People are fucking idiots. I hate to sound like an unpatriotic pig to all my fellow Americans, but if there somehow were a by-nation summary of the stupidity quotient (theoretical opposite of "IQ", which I will make a note about at the end of my post) America would be the STUPIDEST NATION IN THE WHOLE GODDAMN WORLD. We have a massive anti-gun agenda, when the sort of people who will kill people with guns will get them regardless of whether or not they are legally available. We have a subculture which is characterized by ITS PROSPENSITY FOR CUTTING ITSELF ON THE WRIST. And no one sees a problem with this, no one sees a fucking issue at all. Those who DO never talk about it, they go on about their daily lives. I know someone who lives in Omaha, she's who I first heard this story through. "Lol, some kid went to a mall today and tried to beat Cho's high score." Someone with a brain asked "Do you think that's cool or something?" And my good pal responded "Hell yeah. These idiots are doing my dirty work." ... I can't BELIEVE how many people are blind to the blatant misanthropy that America is filled with. Oh and the music popular today, I recall a Slipknot song called "People = Shit". Is it ANY WONDER that you have kids going to school with AK-47s and shotguns and blowing people's heads off? Then we have groups like Westboro Baptist Church. Even me, the least violent person you'd ever meet, contemplated the virtues of semi-automatic weaponry after learning about these people. The war in Iraq is a reaffirmation of the "killing solves problems" attitude most people display under stress and Battle.net, 4chan and many other such forums and chatrooms help sociopathic people gather together to do sociopathic things. I'm not going to summarize. You can probably get a decent idea of what I mean to say from this alone.
Last thing. IQ was made as a test for retardation. Says a lot about its percieved utility in guessing a person's intelligence above the mentally retarded level.

It's either this way, or one line quotes paragraphically picked apart until anything resembling a decent point is ignored by the defending party. choose your destiny

Because when they post something, some motard, who sees himself as "old-school honorary member of this board", is gonna point at the cool new person's post-count. And is gonna say that the noob's opinion doesn't matter cause he doesn't have 2k posts yet.
