How can I easily tell the time of day (game time) when playing Morrowind? The only solution I have found is to hit T, then Cancel, but that's not entirely satisfactory, and sometimes the game won't allow you to rest because enemies are nearby. It would have been so easy to incorporate a game time clock in e.g. the map window.
How can I tell in which compass direction I'm going? I have the world map up all the time, but it's not too helpful and I get the imnpression that it doesn't have a fixed North axis (i.e. it is rotating). I could be wrong - I find it hard to orient myself. If the axis is fixed, perhaps you can tell me which direction the top of the world map is pointing to?

I do believe that the only way to tell the time of day is with T. Maybe there's a compass-and-clock plugin, but from the original game, I think T is your only shot.
The world map doesn't rotate. What does rotate is your little triangle icon on the map. Where the triangle-arrow is pointing is the direction you're facing in. There's no permanant compass like in many FPSs.

Thanks, WingedKagouti, I'll give it a try and tell you how it works.

Basically, in either of the in-game maps, you point the arrow to the direction you want to head. For example, if you want to head North, point the arrow up, South is down etc. It can be difficult at first, but you will get used to it in no time!

Im still in Seyda Neen, so I looked in the barrel outside the census office, but it wasn't there. Perhaps because I had alreadyemptied that barrel. I'll look in caius cosade's house in balmora when I get there - have to clean out the bandit cave (and dry my clothes ;) ) first.

Im sure you're right. What got me confused was trying to find that tax collector outside Seyda Neen. I had a rough compass direction, but had some trouble figuring out how to translate that to a position relative to the town. I found him now.

I tried the Dwemer clock with mixed results. It shows the time in a window when I equip it, but the window does not stick. Too much to ask for, I suppose.
