It's 'Knackers'.
Knackers are testicles. This is slang from the middle ages.
Nakers (nakirs) were small Medieval kettle drums (of Middle Eastern origin). These were attached to a drummer's belt and worn about the waist. These drums hung just at the crotch area, making the player look as though he was in possession of a nifty pair of musical gonads. The spelling has changed over the years, of course.
It's heartwarming to think schoolboy humour was around in the Dark Ages.:)

IIRC Smith is the name of the prisoner in the only cell with a door.
The servant that delivers a tray of bread and near to Ramirez is named Joe.
