Hi everyone.
I have a strange problem that came up a few weeks ago with Thief 2 - this only happened with T2 and T2x, no other games . Out of nowhere, it became choppy and lagging. First I thought it had something to do with another program running in the background, but I loaded Task manager and didn't see anything. Then I lowered the resolution, removed the enhancement pack (I don't have the widescreen patch), and it didn't change anything. I know it's not a video card issue, since I got a new videocard a couple of weeks back and it didn't change a thing with regards to the lagging. I uninstalled T2, reinstalled it, and the same thing happens. I even defragged my hard drive, to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, any idea what it could be?
PS: my system specs are:
WinXP Pro SP2
Pentium III 1Ghz
512 Ram
Geforce 256 mb (had a Radeon 64 mb before)

Do you have the autoindexing running? This is one thing that can slow you up.

I turned off indexing, and it helped a bit, but it's not completely back to normal yet

Are you sure it isn't the new gfx card? i got a new one too, and thief is slow with ddfix... Only if I look in a certain direction in a certain area, however.

Yeah. It started on my old card, which had worked fine before. When I upgraded, it didn't change anything

Is there any HDD activity when lagging? What FPS do you have at menu screen and in-game? Do you use ddfix / widescreen?
