myst 5 followed on from Uru and Uru is more fun than myst 5, you can jump in Uru. Uru also contained a lot of eggs.

It took me days and nights to solve all puzzles in the jungle. But
at the Spire I feel totally hopeless. I've come to use a walkthrough and feel like a complete cheat :(

I thought that Spire was the standout age from Myst IV by a long shot. I personally thought that Myst III was the best mixture or storyline, graphics, gameplay, and puzzles. Whilst some of the other games excelled in parts of this, I never felt that any of them where able to be as consistently good as this one, plus the soundtrack was freaking awesome.
I have never met anyone who has beaten Riven without a walkthrough (and believed them), it was nice for a change to pretty much have just one huge age.
I reckon the ending to Myst V was pretty shite for a game that was billed as the end of ages.

I have old school myst installed. I never beat it because of that stupid rocket puzzle. I was too lazy to. . .
match up the sounds.
It has great music. I am waiting for a box set of all of the series to get cheap. Then I'm going to buy it and check it out. I typically don't like "adventure" games but Myst was one of the first games I played. (My first game was oregon trail or odell lake on this ancient machine with only computer green vector graphics)

So you're waiting to ... play it again, Sam?
Could not resist

A Myst remake just came out. I had completely forgotten that this was a thing until I received an email about it. Apparently this was a Oculus VR exclusive for a while, but now they've released a non-VR version.

$37NZD is pretty cheap. Also available Day 1 in Game Pass.

Dammit, when is someone going to remake Riven instead? Which is the one I actually want to play.

They're working on it. It started as (
http://www.starryexpanse.com/) Starry Expanse, but now those guys work directly for Cyan.
The focus of the new Myst is mostly VR though, where Starry Expanse was supposed to be the fan version of RealRiven.
Btw, I've had the Quest version of Myst since it came out, and it's fantastic in VR.

I'm curious but unconvinced. I loved Myst but none of the updates have satisfied, and I'm not impressed with the music in the new trailer - I really loved the exotic minimalism of the original and this new stuff (assuming the music in the trailer is representative of the whole game) seems really overdone.
Of course, it's possible that the magic of Myst in 1993 was a singular experience that's impossible to recreate 30 years later (and 30 years older). Probably not a hell of a lot that can be done about that. But I'm willing to give it a rip.
