I've been going insane trying to find a game that'll run on my old desktop, and decided to revisit SS2 and see if it can hold my interest. (Twenty bucks says in about 15 minutes I'll be firing up SS1 instead!)
Anyway, I just had my ego blown to pieces. You know the second major explosion that happens during Polito's second e-mail, right after the ladder? I just got killed by that.
I was jumping around smashing things to pieces and was airborne when the explosion happened, and next thing I know the screen's fading to black and I have no hitpoints left. I was flying right past the explosion when it happened, I didn't know it actually dealt damage!
Seriously, can anyone else say they've been killed before the first enemies even show their faces? I'm embarrassed!
Edit: and now I just lost 2 hitpoints falling out of the air shaft into the room with the recharger. If nothing else this should be an interesting game!

I think you've fallen victim to whatever is the opposite of beginner's luck ... old-stodgy's unluck.

Entropy did it.

Here lies TNT, our beloved wrench-wielding acolyte. Slightly less intrepid now she's all corpsified and gross... *gets hit by pillow* Ow!

@raph -- c'mon, give me a little more credit than that! At the very least I'd hit you with something that could hurt you for that! ;) Hell, a freaking embroidery needle could do more damage.

Entropy has unmade her.

SS2's probably just getting back at you for all of the Protocol Droid explosions you've dodged in the past. ;)

You should be.

At least I managed to somewhat redeem myself from that rocky start, managed to get back into melee only mode in time for the brain of the Many. Still . . . my god. That took some serious talent.
