My unfinished FM... - by Krypt

I was working on a smallish, basic FM for a week or two and ended up stalling out on it when it stopped running in the game. As it turns out I won't be able to finish it since I got a new job I'm starting soon and won't have time to work on it. I wanted to sort of give it out to the community to look at, or maybe even continue work on it (if you can figure out how to get it to not crash the game). All the basic geometry is complete, plus a couple rooms in a close to finished state. It needs a bunch of static mesh placement, texturing, lighting, and better portaling outside, and then gameplay and scripting.
EDIT: download it (
http://thiefmissions.com/thief3/demos/krypt_FM.zip) here. I initially didn't want to use thiefmissions.com because I thought it was only for completed FMs, but I guess they'll put up incomplete stuff too.
Here are a couple screenshots taken in the editor:

Sweet!
Thanks, Krypt, and congrats on your new job! :thumb:
Jason (Epithuma) has kindly offered to host FMs and related stuff at thiefmissions.com. I think you can directly upload it to his site.

Ooh, thanks! Too bad about not being able to finish, but congrats on the job. :thumb: Don't disappear on us. :)

Thanks! I've had a quick look and it's given me a few ideas.
I second (third?) the congratulations on the new job, and the hope that you'll still drop by when you get the chance.

If anyone actually wanted to try to finish it, let me know and I could PM you with my "story" I had in mind for it, as well as objectives and any other stuff I can think of.

The outside screen looks pretty cool. I like the rough stone walkway. :thumb:

Can you remember approximately what the most recent things you changed were before it stopped loading in the game ?
EG did you just add some more brushwork, or static meshes ? etc... Might help people to undo whatever it was that went wrong and then move forward again...
Thats really awesome of you to release it incomplete, even if nobody does complete it properly, (and no doubt somebody will) it will still make an excellent learning tool, just like some of the (very) simple maps that a few people have released... :thumb:

I was building the kitchen, but I don't know exactly at what point it stopped working. I built a lot of stuff since the last time I tested it, so it could have been pretty much anything in the kitchen. It seems to be the same thing a lot of people have run into, where some arbitrary object count threshold is reached that prevents it from running :( I was able to run it after changing some ini file settings, but it was chuggy. That would be lame if players had to edit ini files to run a map anyway, so I don't consider that a real fix.

what ini files did you change and how chuggy was it?
