My Thief is screwed up. Fixes? - by Philflound

I was playing Rocksbourg part 3. This game has some awesome new graphics, but I believe it messed me up. My game crashed when I picked up the pictures on the wall. Eric told me to remove the enhancement pack, which when I deleted the file, it wouldn't crash. Then he mentioned something about having to put it back I believe. I never did put it back, and everything was running fine.
One day I went to load the game and I got an error. I can't remember what the error was, but I rebooted my computer. I then loaded my saved game and all the pixels were screwed up, looking like a rainbow. Almost like I was back with 4 color graphics, CGA? It's been a long time like 20 years since I only had 4 colors on a monitor. The game would not tolerate this screwed up scenerio and kicked me out. I tried reloading an older save and the same thing was happening.
I decided to try and load a different fan mission from another creator. I still have this same problem.
I put the enhancement file back, but the problem is still there.
My question is, does anyone know a quick fix so my graphics go back to normal? Or do I have to reinstall my entire Thief 2 game. I would prefer not to. I don't know if I have access to all my discs that easily, so if I can avoid it, any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

What specs do you have?
How the cam.cfg (it's in your thief folder) looks like? Just post it here.

Yes, check your cam.cfg

Ok, here is the cam.cfg file. I know nothing of what goes on so tell me if I need to remove a ; from somewhere, or add a line or something. Thanks.

Hardware is off. It has to be
game_hardware 1
instead of
game_hardware 0

Hmm, that is weird that it would turn off hardware like that... But even though that is the case, I don't understand why it would be "Almost like I was back with 4 color graphics, CGA?" Software mode shouldn't be that low, should it? I've played thief in software before, it looks bad, but i wouldn't say it looks like that so maybe something else happened.

Actually I was about 2 hours into the game (save wise) and probably triple that in play time. When I went to start the Thief 2 game, I got to the load screen. I went to load the latest saved game and it crashed to windows and gave me an error I never experienced before, though for the life of me, can't remember what it was. I know it was just a one line thing, nothing fancy. If this ever happens again, I'll make note of the exact error. I'll try and fix the line you suggested and see if it works again. Thanks.

Thanks it worked. At least with the one mission I loaded. Any other problems I'll come directly to you guys. :)
