hi to you all, again!
As I am new to this board, finally found some help in here and were able to finish the game for the 20th time, I want to share my SS2 experience:
[Caution! There are major spoilers!!!]
-I beat the game with all characters on all difficulties
-the hard mode was the most fun, perfect mixture of challenge and playability (impossible is beatable, but it simply is no real fun playing it, just labor, especially at the beginning)
-After all, I can't say which character is my favourite. First I was going for the hacker all the time, then I prefered the OSA-Agent, but the Marine grew a lot on me (I finished it as a Marine again, today, and it was a lot of fun)
-I still haven't tried all possible combinations of abilities (a shame some are simply useless), so I can't really tell my favourite.
-the assault rifle and the grenade launcher are too strong, the fusion gun is way cool, but too weak :tsktsk:. The alien weapons are perfectly designed, the EMP rifle is USELESS.
-the hybrids are the creepiest monsters, short after comes midwife, the monkeys are the most annoying. The translucent spiders are the hardest, because they are somehow the most erratic
-Up to now, I've never found the Audio-log of Bronson giving away the code for the weapon storage on the science deck. I know this log is on the operations deck, but I haven't found it till now, please tell me where this log is!!! (I had to cheat on that one... :erm:)
-not until the 10th attempt I found out that you can jump from the ladder onto the dark bank, right at the end of the the corridor with Watts' office, and you find your first functioning shotgun there...
-not until the 15th attempt I found out that you can enter the second freight room after you destroyed the shuttle in front of the "back door" with the resonator. You can imagine how pleasently surprised I was to find the dead body of Delacroix and to read her log. And, of course, hearing the creepy rant of shodan, experiencing that she can take just as she can give cyber modules
-the hardest part is the way to the many mind after you jumped down in the water (I just hate the psi reavers there!). The actual boss isn't very hard at all... and Shodan is a joke... :nono:
-the funniest part is either the cinema's posters or the holo brothel...But finally I'd go for the cinema's posters cause they are so self-aware of the situation :cheeky: Xerxes' literature readings aren't bad as well...
-the coolest, creepiest, most epic, smashing and simply the best moment is when Shodan reveals herself in Polito's office. It always gets me...I simply love how they manage to keep her alive, the idea of the biozone and the developing to the many is fantastic!
-SS2 is much of a philosophical game and has some of the most interesting apsects concerning the questions of humanity, individuality vs. collective, machinery and how it affects us mentally and physically, solitude and isolation, revenge of nature, ecology. That's one of the big points why I love this game...
-I really hated Bronson all along, but her last message made me cry somehow and I finally understood her, she was a good, if flawed, security chief concerning the given circumstances
-I never managed to get the basketball in the basket! I tried 50 times...but failed. I want to read the crazy easteregg message! Any help?
to be continued...

Loved the holobrothel, except that I was suprised you didn't get a dancing protocol droid. I wish I was better at model making. I would have loved to do a model where half the skin had dropped off showing gear, wire, components underneath (not cybermidwife style but full android). Even better if you could get them to do a Duke Nukem 3D, then attack you!
Hardest part for me was those darn teeth! Mostly becuase I hate jumping/timing puzzles.
As for the EMP, it brilliant! Well against the secbots, droids and assains at least. I really depends if you have the spare inventory slots as its not much use on quite a few levels and you can still handle those enemies with your bog standard bullets.
Hybrids do rule. Rumbers, monkey, and spiders are a little too generic. The best part of the cybermidwives are the logs by the doc that created them and his first subject. I think what makes those two cool are the voices, "Kill me!", <memory leak, insert midwife quote here>, etc.
Although "Where have you gone sir!", "I can't help you if I can't find you!" from the protocol droids gets a bit trippy in some areas..

Regarding the basketball, you can't throw it up, so you need to climb to the level above and drop it from there. Can't for the life of me remember the names of the psi abilities but one of them lets you pick things up from a distance, and will probably make retrieving the thing a lot faster - Unless you get lucky, you'll be making quite a few throws before you manage to aim the thing right!
You find Bronson, you find the weapons storage log.
While we're on the subject of random questions, does anyone know who the dead chick in the upside down chapel is?

I did get the dancing droid, it was good for a smile, but I don't consider it the funniest part in the game...at least it's not as ironic and consistent in the world of SS2 as the brothel and the posters...

 well, I found her body with the message 20 times, but never the code...

I only found both of those things on my last playthrough too (along with my first go as OSA), so it was a particularly memorable game. In the future I look forward to the random mod, plus my first crack at Hard difficulty.

Being a bit freaked out by heights, I always find that plunge to be a bit nerve-wracking. And apparently no way back...

I don't think it's on her body. Here is the log in any case.
DATE 07.JUL.14
MELANIE BRONSON, OPERATIONS: MEDSCI ARMORY CODE
I've authorized a change in the access code for the auxiliary weapons lockup in the crew quarters of MedSci deck to 98383. I won't have my own gear used against my men. There's no such thing as too cautious.

Look in the mess hall.
Bjossi on 30/11/2006 at 14:31
That log is in one of the rooms near the Ops Override computer if I remember correctly.
rachel on 30/11/2006 at 14:44
Correct, my bad. The mess hall log can be easily missed as well, but is about something completely different...

Oops, I forgot to mention I was just guessing. :thumb:
