So I got home from work earlier to find that my brand new pc wouldn't boot up anymore. I assume it's the power supply that died (Cooler Master EX2 525), although I find it weird that a brand new psu in a cold room could just stop working out of nowhere - I did put some brand new ram the other day (from 8 to 12 gb), but it's the same model. And there was no power outage as far as I know. Anyone know why this could happen? And does my hd risk being fried in the process?

The only way yo know for sure if your PSU is properly fried is to go buy a PSU tester ( they only cost £10-15). They plugin into the ATX cable itself.
But as this is a new PC, I'm guessing all the components are covered by warranty.

Yeah, I have a 2 year warranty on it, it's just annoying that this had to happen with a brand new machine. Plus I had a ton of mp3's I had downloaded on the hd that I didn't have time to backup, I hope it didn't get fried too....

Well if you cant get the pc to fire up, then the first thing to check is the mains lead fuse, then the PSU, then the mobo etc.
Take the driver out and try them in another pc (a friends etc) to check if they are ok.

it would have to be a truly marvelous explosion to actually take down the rest of the hardware components in the machine. the data on the hdd should be ok.
do make sure it's not something like partially disconnected power cord before returning the pc for repairs.
