#1: un-broken spagetti is too big to fit in the pot. If you do that "boil one end till it's bendy enough to get the other end down" your spagetti will be un-evenly cooked. Using an unneccesarily big pot to boil spagetti contributes to global warming.
#2: un-broken spagetti is too unwieldy. Gravity keeps dragging it of your fork whereas half-size spagetti stays on all the way from the plate to your mouth and you don't get a lap full of spagetti.

You're doing it wrong. You have to twist your fork as to make a ball of spaghetti (if it's too hard, use a spoon), then aim for the piehole. That's the one true way to eat spaghetti. Barbarian.
