Thanks for the review, BCMX. I think you confirm most, if not all, of my thoughts from experiencing (I could hardly call it playing) the demo. I'll probably wait until DX:IW joins the serried ranks of the bargain lines in about a year or so. Whilst the notion of a 'dynamic story' is interesting, it's not really why I play games - it doesn't equate to gameplay IMO (though I haven't played it yet, huh?). I suspect I'd miss too much of the DX1 gameplay detail.
What really concerns me most, however, is:
Quote:
... the full game runs slightly worse than the demo (from what I've noticed). I have a 1.8 ghz AthalonXP 2500+, 1gig DDR RAM, ATI 9600 with 256 DDR Visual Ram, the demo at 1024x768 runs around 20-25 f/s, full game I get around 10 f/s.
That's a lot worse than the demo, and is just
appalling performance for a mid-high system. I've got almost exactly the same kit, having shelled out a fortune, and I expected both better performance and better quality. Shockingly bad indeed. This might prevent me from buying DX:IW at all.
