Also, howard strong is less of a problem than you give him credit for: you can simply run around and he'll eventually gib himself with a LAM (he can't throw for toffee), or go for the 'death from above' tactic: get to about the fourth floor, line yourself up with him below and drop on his head. If you've got jumpylegs, turn 'em on to reduce damage, but even without it's not too damaging.
And is hilarious to boot.

That's a shame, Throwing Knives are the coolest :D
Shame there are only a few in the game. I think I'll do a melée-only run through next. Save the knives up til I get Mastered in low-tech. Off-hand, I remember there are a few n the NSF guy's body, then none til Hong Kong, some in the Weapons Dealer's house in Paris and some in Nicolette DuClare's room. Not enough!

:joke: I'm going to have to try that. The idea of jumping on someone's head and killing him really sounds like a TNT thing to do. If SS2 supported it, I would've allowed running into and jumping on enemies as a way of killing them. I'd definitely allow it here.

I don't think I ever used them, but they would be fun to try. But, melee weapon only means hand to hand (or foot to skull  ) combat only, and ranged weapons just aren't allowed. :(

I think that's pretty much all there is. Could always summon them and go crazy killing people with them. ;)

There are a few throwing knives in the catacombs in Paris as well, in that locked chest. Killing someone by jumping on them is quite satisfying, if only you could land on them without taking damage as in Thief. It also works the other way around so careful if someone above you is running around.

Reminds me of my most embarrassing death. New York, just after the shoot out by the hotel. I was in pieces, I was probably only hanging on by a few precious hitpoints. Legs were gone, arms weren't very good, head was almost gone as well.
I slithered over to a stack of crates right beside the free clinic, the pyramid stacked one? Anyways, I smashed the bottom crate, may have smashed the second bottom crate. Either way, the top crate jumped slightly, and when it landed on my head, it killed me. I nearly died laughing, the tears were just a flowin'. :cheeky:

To hell with the necromancy warning, I'll bump my thread if I bloody well feel like it. :p
I thought I'd announced this a while ago, but it seems I didn't. (And if I did and just can't find it, I blame it all on the headaches!) Anyway, the DX melee weapon only walkthrough has seen some progress in the last while. I'm sure everyone who's interested probably already knows about it, but I felt like officially announcing it.
Marecki has finished writing the walkthrough for me, and he's been sending me portions of it whenever he gets the chance. I can't really call the walkthrough mine anymore, by the time it's done Marecki will have written more material for it than I have. Currently the walkthrough will get you through Paris.
I converted all the existing material to use the CSS styles from the SS2 site, as well, but the two sites shouldn't have style conflicts anymore.
If you're interested in seeing it, it's (
