My melee weapon only campaign -- new walkthrough pages available! - by TheNightTerror

About the time I reached . . . Paris I think it was, I switched from writing detailed reports on each level to just taking notes. That's around where things started to suffer, I'm assuming?
About the replays . . . one's already underway. If you think there's parts before Paris which need extra looking at, let me know. :)

Let us start the "Get Nightterror a faster computer" - fund. I really want to read about Doom 3 fists only!
:) (Smiling Nightterror) -> fist -> :ebil: (Evil Doom-Monster)

:laff: It could be interesting, to say the least. But I wouldn't bother, I love my laptop, I've kept it running perfectly for over half a year, no slowdowns whatsoever, which is a bloody miracle for me. :p
Does Doom 3 need pixel shader 1.1? I saw it when I was on my manhunt for Deus Ex, and was considering coming back for it if Deus Ex eluded me, but there was something in the system requirements that made me toss it back and start cursing like a sailor. That's the only thing I can think of is some mention of pixel shaders, but I know that's why I can't play Thief 3, so I may be getting them mixed up. :p

Hm, no. I've seen D3 run on Geforce2's! I also played the alpha on one.

:o:o:o . . . :ebil:
Demos! How stupid am I?? I'll have to take a look for one when I get home, if I downloaded at 436 megabyte file on dial-up (T3 demo) I can probably handle the Doom 3 demo . . . hopefully . . . :erm:

Kudos to the NightTerror for the fun read! I never heard the Russian Sailors say anything, I guess I missed out.
TheNightTerror on 15/11/2004 at 09:35
Hmmm. The sailors might've stayed quiet because it was too soon after the shooting. If you stick with them, and wait, they'll start their drunken rants eventually. Worth the wait, as far as I can see. :)
:) Thanks, Jake! I barely put any effort into it, pretty insane to think someone actually thought it was worth reading. :thumb:

Well, about replaying the game melee only? Going into more detail with the walkthrough and all that? Seems it's a side effect of moving my notes on completing DX melee weapon only to my new server. I couldn't just leave it alone, and now that the general protection faults are no longer in my way, I'm going to try to get a new walkthrough together. This is going to be a
massive project. I may just end up going into almost as much detail as I did with my SS2 walkthrough, if anyone here has also read it.
I can't promise that it'll ever be completed, nor can I promise it'll even be worth your time. But, if you want to see what little I've done for yourself, it's (
http://tnt.freylia.net/deus_ex/index.html) here.
Any comments are welcome, (including problems with the site itself) and any suggestions on what I should cover in the walkthrough are not only wanted, they're probably needed. I'm such a n00b to the game I probably shouldn't even be writing a walkthrough, but hey, the urge seems to be resurfacing.
So, let me know what you think about the tiny amount I've done so far, is it worth continuing? :)

TNT, that walkthrough is looking great so far! I was disappointed that there's only the first few missions up. Your inimitable style of humour is imprinted all over it. :thumb:
It's a shame that the DX community is pretty much dead, but that's what I get for buying games five years after they come out....
TheNightTerror on 21/1/2005 at 20:06
:cheeky: Thanks Ajare! :thumb: Don't be too disappointed, after all, I only just started working on it, but there should be new material soon. Considering my plans for tonight fell apart, I'm guessing I should be able to wrap up the New York stuff by today, I'm at the warehouse and just cleaned it out, I'm about to head underground to find the information Paul wants. Might cover the MJ12 helibase in Hong Kong, since there's not much to that. Should be online by tomorrow at the latest. I have a life, honestly . . .
