Actually, there is something about this oh-so-niceness that just doesn't feel exactly right, to me at least.

Huh, well what do you know, there is some sense resurfacing in this thread afterall.
Didn't know that essentially acting like a nigh-clueless, over-enthusiastic child but never standing up for a point or seriously criticizing something within reason makes you an adult.
Yeah, keep pointing out that age difference, it sure makes you mighty elders looking better.

This is the fan mission thread and nothing in this thread pertains to fan missions in any way. We've had discussions ad nauseum about this. There are moderators to make sure people stay within bounds, so let's drop it and keep this forum for fan mission discussion.

I guess it boils down to whether or not discussion about the FM forum is allowed on the FM forum. I think it does up to a point, but this has definitely passed that point. And there's a forum meta-discussion, to which I will now move this thread.
(In a previous edit I thought I'd have to move this to Comm Chat, but how can you argue with
Questions, comments, rants, raves, etc, about the websites and forums all go here.
?)

That's not at all what I am advocating, here or elsewhere. :nono: I also don't have a problem that we are not all 'sweetness and light'. It'd be Disney-like and boring if we were.
What I have noticed lately is a tendency of the replies lately to be cranky. For example, if someone posts in an incorrect forum, lately the first reply would be to say "This isn't the forum for this !" ... and that's it. No reply to the original topic of the thread, no mentioning
where the thread should probably go. The mods do keep the forums in line... but it seems like the grumpiness level has definitely gone up.

There are too many ego-fueling putdowns that often add nothing to the discussion on this forum.
Well said madwolf, I agree totally.
This is like an infection creeping on these forums and its becoming annoying. I do believe its causing potential new members to refrain from posting or register for fear of having thier posts demeaned. I hope the moderators have taken notice of this and provide the cure. New blood should always be welcome to an old forum.

No one said that.
I rest my case.

Yeah, I agree, that nigh is totally unnecessary.

Surely age is irrelevant? Cranky know-it-all bossy-boots come in all ages, shapes, sizes, sexes, colours, religious persuasions, social classes, bigotries, etc. Viz some of the posts in this thread (possibly including this one)!
Don't you think that the best answer is just to ignore the crank and carry on as though his/her post hadn't been made?
