If M. Knight made this film for his kids (because they're all supposedly huge fans of the Nickelodeon series—though somehow he couldn't even direct the actors to pronounce the main character's names correctly) then he must surely
hate the little bastards. The only people that will like this film are those who have finally lost all sense of dignity and taste and have told themselves that they are going to like whatever is thrown at them, even if they really have to work at it, because they love munching on fucking overpriced popcorn that much.
Funny, that's pretty much precisely what kids do.

No it isn't, you odious dipshit.

Fantasia from 1941 beats Avatar, and was not on that many screens (nor did it have late night showings).
And yet I saw
Fantasia in the theater as a kid, whereas it's unlikely in the age of DVDs that
Avatar will be adding to its ticket sales thirty years down the line. I'm not saying that
Avatar deserves the status of "biggest movie ever," but within the current climate of theatrical runs it's pretty huge.

3D is a useless gimmick. The industries are pushing it because it lets them differentiate the cinema experience from watching movies at home, and gives them an excuse to charge more. The thing is, when you get immersed in a movie you forget about it completely, aside from the fact that you're wearing those stupid fucking glasses. I noticed the 3D effects for maybe five minutes in Up, and then completely forgot about them.
There are more effective arguments to be made against the current 3D craze than pointing out instances of seamless implementation.

I don't have much to add except that I sometimes wish Koki would get hit by a really big truck. Not to kill, but perhaps just to maim his fingers so he can't type anymore. Does that make me a bad person? Seriously, why hasn't this dumbfuck been thrown out on his ass by now? He's a fucking troll, and not even an entertaining one.
QUIT FUCKING UP MY TTLG, KOKI.

Haven't we all seen poorly done 3D-shellacked versions of EVERY MOVIE coming since the Avatar thread? I'm sure there were a few people who predicted this sort of thing.
For me 3D as it is now isn't really exciting or something enough for me to be interested UNLESS it's a movie that was specifically made for it and deliberately full of eye candy for that reason. Which is why Avatar is the only 3D movie I've seen in about 22 years. (I think the last one was something Transformers, was there a 3d transformers animated movie in the 80s? Some kind of cartoon, anyways.)

Words said in anger
Koki brings out the best in us as a community, Fett. By being the one guy that never quite got over that "I'm so cool and edgy I think everything sucks" phase we all went through, it shows the rest of us what a truly intolerable asshole actually is, and gives us something we can rally against as one. Koki gives us solidarity. We need Koki.
To give it an analogous spin, you know how we all have this incredibly potent bacteria in our stomachs? It's gut-wrenching when you first hear about it, and the only think of is ways to kill off this horrible crap inside you by drinking bleach or something. Thing is, this disgusting bacteria is actually quite beneficial. Without it, you'd more than likely get sick. Koki plays a similar role to TTLG. You hate to think he's around, but surprisingly, he actually has a purpose.

QUIT FUCKING UP MY TTLG, KOKI. I thought that was my job. Now I'm confused.
damn
Stitch--agreed with that one. Compared to the sludge that's been being cranked out (come on....the fucking A-Team?! What's next,
Good Times 2012?) lately,
Avatar is top notch.

Thread moral: Bad movie is bad.
As an aside, how was Up in 3D? I forgot it was one of the forerunners.

Once again the critics are predicting that this is the poison pill that will finally rid the world of M. Scammyman but he seems to be like a resistant bacteria, surviving every antibiotic attack and returning, better financed each time.
Maybe if we all heap rich and ringing praise his next celuloid dung-heap he will be consumed in a fire of self adulation and the world will be safe once more.

You knowingly went to see a Shymalan film, despite him not making a near decent one since Unbreakable? You have no one to blame but yourself.
As for cinema prices, I go see films on Cheap Tuesdays and don't buy the over-priced snack food from the cinema's Candy Bar. Simple solution. Also I you know, research films before seeing them. Don't knowingly go to see confirmed stinkers.
