which is very small for a texture pack considering it covers the whole game almost.

textures are the most size consuming assets for games. If this was a modern game the size would easily have been something like 3x of that, considering how advanced texturing has become with normal maps, ao maps, specular maps, parallax maps (and more). this game only uses normal maps and specular maps for a few meshes.

Yes, though a very small mod in comparison to many others i've made over the years, the Skyrim Flora Overhaul mods has 18M downloads, the Fallout NV and FO3 mods are also more known i think, well at least they have more downloads.
