Hello Fello TTLG'ers, I am teaching my girlfreind to skateboard! (as seen in my thread title) Today was her first day and she can already balance perfectly, skate pretty fast, and manual. Tomarrow morning we're gonna go to the new skatepark and she's gonna try the street slopes and ramps. She is learning very quickly and I beleive that within a few weeks she'll be riding the bowl and halfpipe!
I've been looking for any skateboarding videos with female pro skaters to show her that girls can skate pro! Any suggestions? Any advise to her? We just had a State-of-the-Art Skatepark built in my city and last saturday Tony Hawk Himself came to skate on it as well as Bam Margera, Andrew Reynolds, some sweet BMX'er, a few other really good pro skaters including a 12 year old kid named tylor?or taylor? anyway, it was all part of the tony hawk "Secret Skate Park Tour". It was really cool to see the pros LIVE in action because I've played the tony hawk games since i was a wee little kid.
Now my girl's really excited to start learning! she already has fallen the worst possible way so she knows it hurts. We're gonna buy her a new deck tomarrow or the next day... We just picked up some helmets/pads today so falling wont be as bad... Any good beginner tricks? she's really into oldschool stuff, but she wants to learn it all! I know she is pro material just watching her on her first day! Maybe it sounds like im jumping to conclusions but i beleive it.
Every other skater here is being really supportive of her skating and it encourages her to keep going. It's really cool that the girl skater population is rising so fast! last i heard there are over 2.million female skaters in the U.S. WHERE ARE THEY? well, I have one of them but It would really help her to see a female pro skater.
Thanks in advance for advise and stuff...

If she hasn't been on the bowls or halfpipes, she hasn't fallen in the worst possible way yet.

What if she fell under a truck? Or into a meatgrinder? That's probablly worse than falling in a half-pipe. :erg:

what if that half-pipe was filled with meat-grinders?

Good to hear she's doing well. But over 30 years of skate experience tells me she won't be ready to go vertical in a couple of weeks. What's the hurry? Pads, helmet, and good gloves that protect the wrist on impact....and have her carve up the slopes and ramps for a while. Only when she's really mastered the gentle transitions is she ready for vertical. I street skated for years and was damn good before I ever had the chance to skate vert. On that day I was SOOOO over my head it wasn't funny. You don't want to get her hurt!;)

Although once she's all scarred up and twisted from her many injuries, you'll probably want to dump her as she'll be horribly disfigured and hence...ugly.

There's a video on playboy.com of a redheaded girl with perfect tits skateboarding topless, would that help?

Teach her to ollie I hear that's a good trick.
Also we have a skate park near my apartment and there were some teenagers bein' all rowdy and raucous outside my window the other night and one of them spelled "O-M-G" outloud and I had half a mind to go out there and teach them a thing or two about pants and how to kick them but I didn't because I'm actually a pussy so in conclusion teach her to ollie.
