So, long story short, I ended up taking on a small project whilst living here in Mass. A three-piece metal band had literal hours of instrumentals and needed someone to put lyrics and vocals to them. It was first intended to be just a studio project, but after two live shows, there's already some regional label interest and some ace slots at summer festivals throughout New England. Fortunately for me (due to health and my growing disdain for performing live music), I will be moving to PA before any of this takes place. Consequently, I'm currently helping the band audition permanent singers.
That said, I should mention that though I love this style of music, it is the first time I've ever been involved with the genre in RL. My writing tastes tend toward singer/songwriter stuff ala Sting, Thornley (Big Wreck), and the Alice in Chains EPs. So when they approached me with the material, I spent a few weeks steeping myself in Maiden, Priest Testament, Pantera, etc. and here's what came out. I don't think I'd ever want to do this type of stuff long term, but it was a challenge considering my background is with cover bands, funk/R&B bands, etc. It was recorded at Rotary Records here in Springfield, where the last All That Remains, Staind, and Chick Corea albums were done, so that was a nice place to work.
Feedback welcome, as always:

I like this stuff. Kind of a Type O Negative sound...actually more along the lines of Carnivore. Thanks for sharing.
;( RIP Peter Steele...
edit: Chick Corea? Wow, I'd love to visit that studio.

Not really my cup of tea, but I listened to 'King of the Craven' and 'Frozen Sky'... they're actually pretty good!
Some interesting lyrics, very good vocals, and a great sound there. I'm quite impressed.
