Best thank Glypher, I just supply secretarial services. :p
Thanks Glypher! I don't even know how they find what they find to fix.
I need to learn how to do DMLs. I often thought about making a mod folder for the mod manager that turns particle torches to my pretty bitmap fire and smoke. I would need to figure out a DML that only applies to a FM if they're just using vanilla, but not overwrite if they have anything custom. And somehow still fit all mission numbers. But not sure if possible.

PS. Totally agree about the nostalgia, this was one of the very first FM's I played and still love every minute of it.
For sure. I should also mention the amount of secrets for the time it was made, was great.

This was the first FM I played. In fact trying to get Thief games running and figuring out how to get Darkloader working was some of my first computer usage apart from using Word to do college papers and the like.
And little did you know you would become de facto Garrett ;)
Yeah I remember then being so evangelical about Thief in general at that time, even if I was at an outside music festival I would be telling random hippies about how cool TDP is. :joke:

I'm replaying this on Rogue and wondering where the gemstone used to frob the gold jars is? (the one in the gallery, and the other in the bedroom)

fortuni's walkthrough for "The Mystery Man" says that on Rogue and Garrett difficulty, the crystal Shard is in Lord Alexei's room. Check the floor in the southwest corner.

locked chest in his room contains his gold plate.Unless the shard isn't used in this difficulty or that walkthrough is inaccurate? I only have one objective left (leave the mansion), but wanted to explore more

Your correct on rogue and garret that's where the gold plate is, so not sure where Mr B got that info from, in Rogue and Garrett you need to use the gold pate somewhere else to access a hidden area, check the kitchen .

There seems to have been some confusion here.
I was writing about the Crystal shard, not about the gold plate. Two versions of the walkthrough for "The Mystery Man" stated that if playing on Rogue, it was in Lord Alexei's room, on the floor in the SW corner. Meanwhile, I also played the mission on Rogue with and without DML, and yes, the Crystal shard lies on the floor where it should, to the left of the table supporting the locked blue chest containing Alexei's gold plate on Rogue. The chest unlocks with the Master key. However, the Crystal shard may look like it was a part of the floor texture, for the colours of floor and shard are very similar. The shard should light up if the player is crouched and approaches the space between the table with the chest and the wall corner to the left of the table.
One thing that might also lead to confusion is that Alexei has two rooms in the mansion, and both of them have a bed. The room with the shard and the plate lies to the north of the pool before the West tower, while another room has an open window leading to the garden/yard area before the mansion's main entrance where the mission starts. The room with the open window is not the one containing the shard; it also has no chest on a table. It does have some kind of basin with wather inside which the other one of Alexei's rooms does not have.
Anyway... If Azaran still cannot find the shard on Rogue, there seems to be some kind of bug here. Or maybe Azaran killed the two undead who may appear in this room, and the explosion of one of them hurled away the shard to some place where no one would look for it.
