Yep, played and beat OOTV- I remember how freaked out I was when I had to go into that one guys room that had all the furniture on the ceiling, scary stuff. I'm pretty new to the Thief/Theif 2 FM community, I'm trying to catch up with the rest of the community playing as many FMs as I can (starting with the highest rated ones of course:thumb: ). So far my favorites are the "Celendra" series, The 7th Crystal, The Inverted Manse, Bloodstone Prison, The Myster Man, The Order of the Vine, and Embracing the Enemy. To bad about this recent server crash- this place was a gold mine for an FM newbie..oh well...off to search the net again :erg:

You can get some missions on a disk from KoMaG, all you have to pay is the shipping, and maybe the blank disc(s).

I am really stuck in Mystery Man. I have all the Taliman except the Earth. I read in the thread it is in Hector's room. I don't know where Hector's room is.
Where is Hector's room?
How do I get the Earth Talisman in this room?
I do have the master key already.
Thanks for the help.

ps: This is really a great level. Very well done!!!!
Did you find the Throne room? If not, you need to go into the big Library, into one of the small side rooms and frob a lever on the wall that opens one of the bookcases. The door behind it opens with the Master's Key. Go down to the door at the end, unlock it and you'll be in the Throne room. Look behind the throne for a lockbox. It unlocks with the same key. Head out into the hallway and there's an open door on your right. That's Hector's room. You should be able to find the Talisman once you're in there.
Thanks Nighwalker. I am enjoying the level so much but you know how it is when you are wandering around in circles.
Thanks again

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I've spent my fair share of time wandering around with a lost look on my face, trying to figure out what to do next. :cheeky:

All right. I'm at the end of this mission, or better, one fight from the end, as it seems, and I'm trying to tell myself...stay cool....
But...
Do you really have to fight the Master face-to-face? I can't end it. Actually, I don't even *want* to end this mission if it involves such a fight.
So, is there a way of simply backstabbing this... thing? If yes, please tell me. I tried speed potions and hiding somewhere until I get a chance, but it seems webs and fireballs or whatever it is always find me. Anyway, this is simply too hard, and most importantly, not Thief-like! And you can't run out either - it is as if this scene is designed to make hide-and-backstab impossible, and I think that's a really bad thing in a Thief mission unless it is optional. I never felt as let down by the end of a FM, especially after the very good start and the truly extraordinary puzzles. As it is, "Mystery Man" won't get any recommendations from me.
Sorry for the rant, but I think missions like this deserve a warning in the description - "prepare for heavy fighting". If I had known, I wouldn't have started it .

Actually, it is possible to sneak up on him and backstab him. That's kinda the point, you can't fight him head on (unless you're very lucky) :P
Use the chamber to your advantage, especially the drops on either side of the book to confuse him. Plant a rope arrow there before reading the book, then drop down and while he runs down to find you, climb back up. If you stay hidden long enough he'll settle down, then you can move in for the kill :)
Ieldra on 20/7/2003 at 22:23
(sigh) I'll try that. Perhaps. Some day. It's hard to get the motivation for trying again and again if in two of three tries you're down to 3 hp from a fireball before even moving away from the book...
BTW, is there another healing potion somewhere? I only found one and a healing fruit, and in a mission with so much fighting and climbing it's rather sadistic not to include a few more.

This is a fantastic mission. I finally got to the end. Hwo in the world do I kill the guy at the end? Gas arrow - nope. Invisibility potion - nope. Running awauy with speed potion - nope.
HELP!!!
