Like any other "Haunt", if you avoid The Master for long enough he will go back to a relaxed state. Then sneek and Backstab. :ebil:

John D.'s trick only works on the easiest setting. You don't get the Invisibility potion on the other settings, which makes it a little harder. :)

Strange thing about that invisibility potion. I was playing on Hard, but I found it. The strange thing is it didn't seem to turn me invisible.:erg: It was also in a gray container, instead of the usual green one. So maybe this is the reason for all these odd things? I wasn't supposed to have it on Hard? Well like I said, I found it, but when I drank it the BJ in my hand didn't turn invisible.
It's been a long time since I played TG, but I don't remember there being invisibility potions in that game. I thought they weren't introduced until T2 came out? But my memory can definitely be wrong.

Well, I still have some problems in Mystery Man:
1.) Where are the keys for the following doors?
a) The door in the secret passage in the library.
b) The door upstairs where "no one is allowed beyond this point".
c) The door of the Western Tower.
I have many keys, but no-one fits. I have read a note that in Talbot's bedroom a key shall be, but I did not find any, there was only some gold. I suppose, the Mystery Man is inside the Western Tower.
2.) Is there something of interest in the room with the "mumbling pictures"? There is a gold vase that I cannot take.
3.) Is there anything of interest in the basement, where it's very dark?
4.) I have tried to shot some torches with water arrows, but did not do this on all torches. Are there some that open a secret door or the like?
5.) I have read that in the upper passages (upstairs of the prison) should to be found another key. I have only found the Upper floor key there.
6.) There shall be some medaillons. Where are they? I have only found the talisman of Air (I believe, it was this one). Are there more of them in Mystery Man?
7.) In the small house in the garden (near the start-field) I have found a large sword. I have put this sword to the room where the zombie appears when I read the hidden information. Is there any need for this large sword?
8.) Is there a need to use the fire arrow, other than dealing with the zombie?

That's a lot of questions! :joke: Well I'll do my best!
1,2 & 5. Most of these doors open with one key, though I thought the one by the "no one is allowed past this point" sign opened with the Upper Floor Key, which you said you already have. You haven't found the key, obviously. You need to go back to Talbot's room and look for a lever behind the armoire. A secret door will open and you'll find the Master's Key. That will get you into several places you haven't yet been able to enter and solve some of your problems. This key opens a number of areas, including Alexii's room. You didn't mention what difficulty setting you are playing on, but if you are on Hard or Expert, you should also find a special crystal in here. Use that one the vase in the Art Gallery and see what happens. If you are on Normal, then look in the room that you can rope arrow up to, by the shed. The crystal is down behind the tub of water, in the corner. There's a vase in that room, as well, that you can use the crystal on.
3. No
4. No
6. There are all 4 Talismans in the mission, so you still need to look for 3 more.
7. Not that I know of.
8. There is a use for the fire arrow, but not a need. If you want to find more loot, then go into the big front foyer and use the fire arrow to shoot the middle tapestry (I think) that is hanging on the wall, high above the hall to the front door, then rope arrow up and you'll find a chest. Mystery Man has one of the most challenging loot hunts available. There is stuff hidden almost everywhere and some of it is very difficult to find. :)
I hope that helps.

Sorry, I did not find a switch or lever. Translation programs tell me that an armoire is a "Kleiderschrank", I did not know that word, my English is not so good, I'm from Austria. There is something like this on the left side of the bed, but there cannot be anything BEHIND it because it is standing directly on the wall. I have made a screenshot of this scenario, and you can watch it here:

(I'm not sure of this will be shown as link in the forum.) I hope this is the armoire that you meant. However there is nothing like a switch or the like in this room. Sorry, the picture is VERY dark, but this is how all missions (also the original) look on my PC. (I have written about this problem in another forum around here.) So please watch it at night with off-switched light. And as I see now it is better to visit it in a picture viewer like IrfanView in the "Vollbild"-mode with black screen color. In the Internet Explorer it is nearly impossible to see the details in the picture...
Oh, and I'm playing it with difficulty "Normal".

Actually, the switch is visible on this very screenshot, although very hard to see: It's to the left of the amoire, in the corner (if you squint your eyes a bit, you can see its red handle). Just crouch down in front of it, and it'll highlight.
Nightwalker on 10/1/2003 at 17:54
The term "behind" was a little misleading. Sorry, Gerhard. I've sent you an e-mail with a brightened copy of your screenshot and marked the lever on it for you. :)

Thank you for your help.
It seems that I have some problems with the hidden rooms. So some further questions... (I play it in Normal.)
1.) In Hector's room there is a note that he has stored some holy water. But where is it?
2.) In Hector's room there is a golden skull. What can I do with it?
3.) On the way to the prison there is a trap - an energy pod is coming out of the wall. I have highlighted the hole where the energy pod comes out with a flash bomb and I have seen that in this hole there is another hole that is formed like a hand. What does this mean?
4.) There are some libraries. When I go from the large one on the second way to the right through the way where first is a door opening with the dining room and then there is a door that looks like one of the Keepers (with a large symbolized lock and key on it) that opens upwards. Inside there is a small library. Now in this room when I go to the edge on the forward-right side then I hear a slam, just like a stone-door is closing. But I do not see such a door here. Also I hear some floating water here, but I do not find any. The slamming sound is coming only once. When I go out of this room and then to the left, there is the dining room. In one of the edges of this room there is a strange sound, like a little bell always ringing. What ist there?
5.) I do not find a room where I can rope arrow up to, by the shed. There shall be a crystal, but I do not know what room you mean. There are some rooms where on the ceiling there is a hole with some wooden pieces (sorry, missing vocabulary!), and I was there with rope arrows, but there are no rooms, I cannot go anywhere from there.
6.) In the room before the prison room (where the mentioned hole with the energy pods is) there is also a hole on the ceiling. When I climb up here with a rope arrow (it is much higher than the way upwards to the room where Mortimer is) I here something that sounds like there were some Haunts. Are there some?
7.) I have found two notes saying that "key duty must not be neglected." What does this mean? Besides, I did not find Jerrick and Drake. Joram had the second Dining Room Key (I just had one). Talbot himself did not have any key. (However I have found the Master key, thank you for your help.) I believe, Loman did also not have a key. (However, maybe he had the Front Gate Key, I'm not sure who had it - now I have it.)
8.) Near Talbot's room there is a corpse (a head of a Hammerite I believe) in a niche. What can I do with it?
9.) Where is the key to open the Western tower?
10.) Is there anything to be found in the two guest libraries besides the front door in the foyer?
11.) When I go upstairs where "no one is allowed beyond this point" and I open the door and do not go at the first right, but at the second then there is a room where nobody is inside. But when I go from the door at the first right, a warning flashes up, and a soldier comes out of that second room that was empty before. So from where does this soldier come? Is there a secret door or the like where he comes out?
I would be glad for any hints...
Gerhard

1) It doesn't exist in the mission. It was in there originally, but was removed because of some problems and I guess that Doaal missed removing that note.
2) Nothing, that I know of. Just decoration.
3) Again, nothing as far as I know. You'd have to ask Doaal for more detailed information.
4) There is another area that you can access from the small Library, but only on Expert. The sounds you are hearing are probably connected with that. There is nothing to be found in there on Normal.
5) You need to go back outside, over to the area where the mission began. If you walk through the hedge from the spot where you start, you're in a garden with a fountain. To the left, through a gap in the hedge, is a shed, with a guard standing in front of the door. To the right of that shed, is the mansion wall. If you look up, you'll see the open window I was referring to.
6) Don't know!
7) Again, as far as I know, it's of no real importance. Just clues and stuff to make it seem more real. Doaal would have answer to be sure.
8) Again, nothing, as far as I know.
9) You'll find the key to open the Western Tower when you've found all the Talismans and put them in their proper places.
10) Not that I've ever been able to find.
11) I'm not sure exactly where he is supposed to have come from. There is a secret room up there (the one you'll find when you have all the Talismans in their holders), but I doubt that Talbot is supposed to be in there. Again, only Doaal can say for sure.
