I was once more running to the baroque.
I tried using Nina's Heart. tried reading the Shadow Song, tried entering at angles because I could see thru it obliquely. I even considered looking for a mirror that I could bring there.
This guy doesn't seem a very lively, warm chap, does he?
Heck, Flashbombs don't seem to affect him. Please tell me he is NOT as good with a sword as most Revenants...
Forget it >_< he IS.
DANG! He is faster than the guard at the demonic temple thingie. =P wth. Can't run cos he is faster even with speed potion it's not a big difference. Can't fight cos he's at least 3x faster. Can't hide because he will spot you in the dark. =P² I'm starting to think perhaps talking the situation out.
Although I just used my sword there is some technique that can be applied here. And no, I don't mean fancy and convincing words.
If you look along the wall you will find a little side room thing with a wood roof. You know what that means, rope arrow up before you open the book and then once big baddie pops out jump back on the rope and wait there untill he calms down a bit.
It sounds ok from here, but
can't he shoot UPwards? the side rooms seem a bit low ceilied, but let's asusme you manage somehow to rope onto a high vaulted ceiling. Can't he just shoot you while you 're playing Foucault's Pendulum? one of the things that annoyed me is, no matter how fast you do it, you ca'n't get close to the guy to bang the heck outta him, cos he starts throwing fireballs and webs! it's hard to fight when you're trying to disentangle your sorry self from 20+ clicks of web. And he keeps shooting webs! Gah.
Yep confirmed.
he just keeps shooting. It's disgusting. =P most of the time can't even reach the damn rope.
try this
as soon as you drop the book, run to that area where you were trying to rope arrow and just jump down, then hide in the shadows underneath the platform and wait for him to come looking for you then hit him first with an overhead smash then several quick slashes

I couldn't use the rope either--he would always get me there. I just jumped down the hole and ran to hide. He didn't see me the first time, but I messed up my backstab and then every time I jumped down the hole and tried to hide, he saw me. I believe I tried running around that lower area and then when I came back, he didn't seem to see me and went down very easily.

also try putting down a moss arrow under the platform in the shadows so he doesn't hear you BEFORE you go and read the book!!!:thumb:

this may just be a glitch in my computer or something but I tried it 2 or 3 times and it has worked every time...results have varied but all have been pretty funny...
okay in the FM "The Mystery Man", in the very beginning, when you're outside the mansion, go over to the storage building and shoot a rope arrow into the wooden frame of the open window above that storage building, then from the rope jump onto the roof of the building...and if you purchased fire arrows (you need 2 for this to work), just for fun shoot one fire arrow at the platoon of guards on the front entryway then when they are all on alert shoot the other fire arrow right in the middle of the group and then watch what happens...:joke:

neat, they all glide around like flying nuns and if you wait a while, they'll bunch up so you can hit them at once with a gas arrow
