Ack stupid AI opening unfrobbable doors! I gotta watch out for that.
By the way the gate on the side of the Mansion doesn't have anything on the other side of it, but it's well guarded so obviously not a good spot for Garrett to sneak in.
Faraiwe on 10/7/2002 at 23:48
What do you know... there IS a switch there... and it opens those doors too! Joy!
There is another switch, unfortunately, it's behind one of the tapestries, and since you're there hanging onto a rope arrow for dear life, it's kinda hard to opem. No keys seem to work, neither lockpick will do it. Hm.....
BTW Who is the sick fella that'd leave messages for presumed intruders aroudn the house?! I am starting to develop a Pavlovian induced aversion to parchment. Sheesh.
Nightwalker on 11/7/2002 at 02:54
That's not a switch. It's a
chest. The only way I found to get that one was to make sure you buy a firearrow at the beginning, so you can blast the tapestry from the floor, then rope arrow up to open the chest. :)
Making any progress? :p Have you found the Master's Key or any other Talismans?
Faraiwe on 11/7/2002 at 06:00
Got the master key, but no other talismans. Nice timing on the guards on Hector's Room. Hard to break.
Golden Skull has any use? what the heck is that demon guard !!! he's faster with the sword than anything I've seen in this game. Goodness gracious, thanks for the extra water arrows. Would the 2 fire arrows be strictly necessary? I might have to spend them. Just checking. I am kinda stuck, thinking of what next. forgot to mention: The library, found the two passages behind tapestries, and seems only one can be reached. I already got one with the golden coffer, but the other has a puslating light to it, and I can't reach it, even with a crate. Jumping from bookshelf didn't do it either. =P So I am baking my noodle , breaking for the night. Will resume, soon =)
BTW The amount of Loot in this mission is beyond the most joyful dreams of any thief. I got nearly 11k Loot already, and I haven't got in the Western Tower yet.
Nightwalker on 11/7/2002 at 11:58
That's one of the best things about both this mission and Christine's mission, A Visit to Lord Ashton's! You really get to steal enough to feel like a wealthy Thief!
You can get into that other nook, but there's nothing much in there, if I remember correctly.
Faraiwe on 11/7/2002 at 18:13
Sounded like a chest, alright... dang. Will have to come back to pick it. Can't leave while things still walk or loot still abounds. Do broadhead arrows rip tapestries? I am scrimping on the fire arrows for their undead-and-thingies safe blowing up reach. I couldn't find the Holy Water mentioned on the scroll at Hector's.
I just got to the Kitchen Table entrance. Nice touch. Still One Talisman, and bitching about it...
Funny thing related to the Talisman; when I got to the Room where you're supposed to lay the tablets at the statues' arms, I creeped upon the guard that appears and, crouching, hit him with the blackjack........... in the ...hip...not really. Funny thing is.. he doubled over himself, and screamed "FAAAULT!!!" and then returned to his normal, no alarm or signal of having seen me. That was worth a laugh.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And if you ever see a scroll or parchment with anything written onto it, ask yourself "would that info be worthy facing Unspeakable Things?" then ready yourself.
Nightwalker on 11/7/2002 at 19:48
Broadheads don't work. I tried them.
The holy water doesn't really exist in the mission. Doaal told me that it was originally in there and was removed for some reason.
Faraiwe on 12/7/2002 at 00:18
Just finished those quests. Chest is picked, Scepter is mine, and second tablet is delivered under the very nose of the guard at attention. Now the remaining Talismans must be found. but I find myself looking after clues.
The biggest challenge in the Table entrance was to actually do down the stairs without hurting yourself in the process. =) I enjoyed immensely the chambers bellow though. Hate Elemental created Ice. The water lifts are a nice touch!
I forgot to mention, but there is a strange non opening door, inside the building in which the door is south of the pool area. Second floor, to the right of the Centaur Stain Glass, a short corridor has a statue and this door. It seems to gve access to the West, possibly Western Tower? I am wondering where could it possibly lead to, and where other tablets might be, for I have scoured the place after possibly hidden passageways. I am trying outside, the water fountain, perhaps will react to the crystal or gold plate? (biting nails)
Which Talismans are you after now?
Nightwalker: Thanks for pointing that out (about the holy water). I had to remove it, because it made a certain someone go awol and spin really really fast, and go halfway through the floor
