Nightwalker, where are ya?!?

Well, I WAS sleeping. (Even I have to do that occassionally! :))
To get the Upper Floor Key you need to go from the main library through to the foyer with the exit to the back gate. Go up the stairs to the second floor and look for a room with a big fireplace. (There's also a bathroom attached to this room.) Put out the fire and look above your head for a lever. :)
As for the Treasury key only leading to fake goodies, that's not quite right, either. It opens 2 doors, one in a small room of the side of the Library and one out in the foyer by the back gate. Make sure you check them both.

That's not the first time this has happened. Thanks Nightwalker.
I had checked the fireplace once for levers and found nothing. I realy need to be more thorough. Instead of doing a sweeping glance, I should study the contours more closely.
Yes, I realize now the treasury key has more than one use. My expectations were too high for the treasury room and that experience stuck in my mind. Forgot about the other.
Stay tuned. There are a lot of objectives left for me on this FM, and lots of unopened doors that I need a key for. Hopefully, this new found lever is a hub leading to other things :)

Another way to get to the upper floor is through the balcony overlooking the pool. I too did not know about the lever in the fire place. So I put a crate on the rail and was able to get onto the balcony that way. Knock on the door so the guard comes out investigating, hide behind it and hit him on the head. :ebil: Grab his key and you are all set.:cheeky:

That's a good trick. I did try to get up onto the balcony, but couldn't manage it. Thought about using a crate but at the time I couldn't remember where one was located.

Arghhhh
I thought I was home free and near the end of the level, when I got to the room with all the talismen. Now I've got 2 of the four, but am stuck again. Still haven't found Nina's heart,(picked up the false one in the treasury room).
I think my next destination are those double doors that no key, even the Master Key won't open. That would be where the pool is. I hear spectres on the other side.
I opened everything except those doors. The locked box in Alexai's room contained his gold plate, and it must do something because it's separated from the other goodies.
One thing I haven't done yet is sneak into that open area at the end of the level, which is protected by two guards. They are very easy to disturb. I'll case that part while pondering this problem.

Here's a little hint concerning the plate.
Read carefully. What does Alexai do with the plate? Now what should you do with the plate? The same thing!
I'm referring to the note/book in the kitchen.
You need all the talismans to enter the big double doors, which are your final goal.
As for the heart:
It depends on the difficulty. But I think this is what you need: investigate the library near the dining room very carefully and make sure to pay attention to any notes you read about it.
Often the best thing to do is follow the actions of other characters in the notes.
It's been a while since I've played this, but I think it's correct.

Wait! Nightwalker actually sleeps? Oh my gawd!! :o
Nightwalker on 28/3/2002 at 12:49
With this mission, you really need to state what difficulty level you are playing on. The fire talisman and the Nina's Heart change location with difficulty level. So, if you're still stuck, make sure you state the difficulty level as well as which talismans you are missing. You can't get into the locked doors by the pool until almost the very end. There is another key you have to find for them and to get it, you need all the Talismans first. :)

Weird things have happened. Almost immediately after I posted last night, I stumbled upon a very strange adjustment in the dining room. This was after I played with Alexai's gold plate, and I'm thinking that triggered something. Previously, I was throwing everything I could find into the sink in the kitchen.Hmmmmmm.....I'm beginning to like this FM lots.
I always play on the most difficult level. The exception was (is going to be) The Great Tree, which I keep dying on before I can even get up to the first branch. I'm saving that one for later.
Is it me, or do these guys run faster than on other missions. And speaking of guys, I've been playing the FM's for Thief1 for a couple of months now, and I've yet to come across a female guard. Whats even stranger, some of the guards have male voices until you club them unconscious. Then I hear a definate female groan. I like the guard banter as they try to find me and tossing in females for the role was a fantastic idea for the makers of the game. But it appears the fans constructing their own missions don't like the notion of a mixed crew. But then again, I haven't played all the FM's yet.
I am now in hot pursuit of the Talisman of ice (or whatever). Thanks for all the help and hopefully I'll finish this one tonight.
