Thank you for that very quick reply! However, I fear I must be quite a dense taffer. I still am stuck. If you mean the lever in the fireplace that opens the passage into where the cells are, I frobbed it, opened the box on the table, read the book, saw the book in Kevins' cell, went upstairs and I forget what I did there, but whatever it was, I did it. (read a book I think). Can you spell it out for me a little bit more please?
Thanks!

It's a little hard to get up on the desk to do what you need to in the safe, but you can do it. Just take a run from a ways back and jump up onto it. I hope that helps.

Aha! It sure does help!

I wasn't jumping up onto the desk first, that was the problem.

Thanks very much!

OK, as an avid adventure gamer, I should be ashamed of myself for doing all this cheating, but I got stuck again right after that last hint. I really tried (honest!) to find out what to do next, but

Spoiler:
I can't find the Master's Key. (I think that's what I need next.) I went up to the Upper Floor (with the stone balcony, overlooking the pool) but couldn't find anything to do up there.

Haaaaalp!!

Lots of people get stuck on this one.
Spoiler:
You can get into Talbot's bedroom, now. Inside there, look for a lever behind the armoire.

I finished all objectives does anyone know how to get out the back gate. The only objective that gave me a real hard time was getting the fire talismin. Thanks for the help Nightwalker.

You're welcome, Footpad. I like your name, by the way. To get out the back gate, look for open windows on the second floor that look out over the courtyard. One has a convenient ledge. I think there is a balcony someplace up by the room that you access from the fireplace that lets you finish, but I'm not sure about that one. :)

I got 13,369, so you've got me beat! :D My husband and I used to play D&D when it first became popular, and our son and daughter played, too. We used to have a regular Sunday afternoon D&D session. When my son got older (he was only 5 when he started) we got approved as "cool" by his friends, because he was the only kid who was taught how to play D&D by his parents. :D
