So has anyone tried this yet?

I managed to get it to work with Kolya's help.(

I just wanted to say that this is a phenomenal piece of work! (And I say that as someone who is completely accustomed to the original controls.)
Thank you so much! You've made the best PC game of all time even better.
I gather that cyberspace controls are a bit funky at present with the mod, so I hope that can be improved.

Hopefully someone might be able to hack this into the Underworld games.

Very interesting. A few years ago I tried to play SS1. But I stopped after an hour or 2, because the controls were so clunky. A shame, because I loved SS2. With this mod, I will certainly try SS1 again. It's still installed on my PC after all these years ! Thanks !

Once this mod settles down, it'll be interesting to hear how much it affects the difficulty of the game. The original was of course play-balanced for a scheme where the player, even with complete mastery of the controls, could only turn and look up and down at a relatively slow rate. With the instant snap-aiming mouselook provides, and the generally decreased cognitive load of having to use the keyboard to look around, I'd say it's a virtual certainty that accidental death will come a hell of a lot less often now.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bad thing- death due to inadequacy of the controls is simply not fun.
