My clock's all wrong. - by nickie

Just wondering if there would be any particular reason why my clock is losing time. I've just noticed it's about 10 minutes slow (my time and post time different) though I reset it not that long ago.
And is it a problem of some sort - or not?

No problem, your computer's internal clock is just starting to get off track.
Assuming you have Windows, you can either:
1) not care and do nothing
2) use Atomic Clock Sync; this is what we use at work - it's automatic and just sits in your task tray: (

3) make Windows sync its time more frequently via registry edits... meh, why bother?

Thanks for that - just seemed strange it kept perfect time for 6 years - but then I'm slowing down too. :)

Perhaps it's time to change the clock battery.

1)Right click your clock in the bottom right hand corner of your desktop.
2)Choose 'adjust date/time'.
3)Click on the 'internet time' tab
4)Check the box for 'automatically synchronize w/an internet time server' and choose one from the drop-down menu.

Well that's good to know - I'm about to upgade processor, hdd and graphics card - be a bit of a bugger if it all went bang just then. Mind you, I don't know what bit the clock is on. Trawling my way through (
http://computer.howstuffworks.com/) howstuffworks in an attempt to be less ignorant, but have not got as far as the clock yet.
