My first novel has finally been published through iUniverse! Yeah, I know, when people think self-publishing they either think "low quality" or "vanity", but I think it can be a good stepping stone for first time writers trying to make a break (besides, my first legit publishing will be that short story I did appearing in that anthology due out next month). I kind of viewed this book as sort of like that indie film Sam Raimi did before "Evil Dead", to try to get money for a larger project in the future. Here's some details:
Title: Confusion
Format: Paperback
ISBN: 0595408230
Size: 6x9
Pages: 312
Price: $18.95 (yeah, I know, pricey for a paperback... I apologize, I have no say in the price. It is, however, also in an Adobe eBook format for only $6, so if you're not a big spender that's an option to consier).
Right now it can only be ordered directly through the iUniverse website, but in the coming weeks it will also become available at places such as Amazon and the Barnes & Noble website. It should be said that these sort of self-published books are print-on-demand and non-returnable, so if you buy it and don't like it, you're outta luck, though it would make an attractive paperweight. Here's the link:

It also lets you browse the first chapter and the opening pages (TTLG is one of the websites I thank in the acknowledgment pages... I even namecheck a few of you, friends and "enemies" alike).;) I really wish they hadn't done the whole first chapter as it's probably the weakest and most overwritten chapter in the book and gives no indication of what follows, but maybe that's for the best.
Oh yeah, in case you're wondering it's very arrogant that I have a character named Sypha Nadon appear in the book, I should say it's just a name I use in almost all my projects (even my band name). It's kind of like how Cid appears in all of the Final Fantasy games, his appearance and character changing each time. And last time I checked, I don't resemble a blonde pop star who looks like he just came off the pages of "Tiger Beat" or something!
I feel a little whorish mentioning this (but when has that ever stopped me before?) Anyway, it would make a great Christmas gift for your elderly Republican voting relatives. Thanks! I'm just excited I have a product I can hawk now!

I've been browsing it. Other than the whole Mary Sue (oh god it's so painful you really should have toned that right the fuck down or omitted it entirely, seriously) thang, it's surprisingly easy for me to visualise things. Which doesn't happen often, young man. Take it as a Good Thing.
But Christ without a handbrake, the Mary Sue.

18$ is disgusting for any paperback.

I despise all paper so I probably won't read this but I have to say that JAMES CHAMPAGNE is the best name ever

I don't see my nickname in bold lettering anywhere, you cunt.
But seriously...good luck in future works

Mary Sue? What are you referring to, GBM? Just curious?
Yeah, I know, I don't know why iUniverse charges such huge sums of money for paperbacks. As it is, the author gets like 20% of the profits, so I'll need to sell over 300 of these just to make back the money I spent on the book in the first place (I signed up for iUniverse's most expensive package, thinking that they'd put more effort into the book cover if they did so. But the cover they gave me was so bland and dull I ended up having a friend do it for me instead. Oh well).
Oh yeah, MrD, I'm so sorry I forgot to mention you in the "thanks" page (ditto for Lesserfollies... how the hell did I forget her?) It'[s just I did that page kind of rushed and at the last minute and as a result I forgot to add a few names. I'll give you the bold letter treatment in my next book, okay?;)

A good deal of your $18.95 appears to go to pages left intentionally blank. I long for future days of affordable print-on-demand services.
Also, congratulations, Sypha Nadon! The cover work is pretty awesome.

"Mary Sue" is when an author makes themself a character in their own story. Also referred to as "self-insertion" (olol), it tends to run rampant in all fanfiction.
