Hi, don't know if I get any response but I am hoping that I do
Just wondering if it is possible to record audio using the sound engine pre-sets from my Yamaha digital piano into Garageband, using an Ipad? If yes how?
I know how it is done on Macbook but just curious about iPad.
Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by sound engine presets, but am assuming you mean the preset sounds like piano, organ etc. If so you will need a audio to usb interface to record on an ipad. If you have an old rocksmith cable lying around that would be ideal. But yeah some kind of interface is needed.

As I recall Yamaha has their own iPad app for that, I remember looking it up when I was thinking of getting a piano... I think it worked with a USB/Lightning adapter of some sort. (I ended up not buying one, so I don't know how it works.)

Yep, you need an interface, something that'll plug into the USB or lightning jack on your iPad and has phone jack inputs to connect from your piano.

Thank you, guys!
Everyone is suggesting the same thing. A USB connector specially designed to connect Piano to iPad(Like an interface). I can't go out right now(for obvious reasons we all know) so I will see if I can find one online.
Is there a specific name for this kind of thing?

For what it's worth, the iPad also has some nice synths as apps too, that are really cheap for what you're getting and for which I believe you could use your keyboard as a controller and record directly through the app on to the iPad, or set it up with Garageband. I'm just guessing if Android can do it the iPad can do it.

It's just an audio interface that's compatible with iOS. There are lots of different options, but I don't actually own one, so I can't recommend anything. Keep in mind that some interfaces will have a lightning connector while others may have USB, which means you also need an Apple Camera Connection Kit to make it work.

To record audio into an iPad from an instrument, you'll need some kind of USB audio interface specifically for the iPad. along with that you can plugin the audio interface into the iPad, and connect your keyboard to the interface, and after that it will be ready to record your audio
I was using Garageband on my windows with some method I found online. But that doesn’t work any longer. Do you know if there is some other way?

I don't think you can run GarageBand on windows. It is for macOS and iOS only. But this articles here says that you can: (

see if this works.
