Multiple problems in running T1 sold-out on win 7. - by Norach

Hello, I'm norach aka Alex the keybord destroyer and I have a slight problem.
First of all I want to say that I just spent 2 days trying the solutions proposed in the FAQ and I'll relate part of my quest to get the game working, I've also bumped into a few other problems (oh and I'm Belgian and my english is a bit rusty).
I'm running a Four-core computer with windows 7
10 G ram
Nvidia geforce GTX 465
Ok so I finally got a copy of T1 (been searching for it for years), the sold-out version and I went on to install it wich hapenned flawlessly. I then naturally tried to run the game wich didn't work, it juste told me that it didn't find the CD 5 minits after I dobble-clicked on the exe file.
So I came here and took a look at the FAQ and tried a few thing including imagecfg and ddfix.
That didn't change anything (not that I thought it would but I was getting a bit frustrated) so I read a few more posts and found out a modiffied exe bien Jhon Curran for thief Gold, as I was in full dispair I tried it and it worked, I was finally able to get the game running.
That's when the other problems appeared.
First, my options display are all messed up with bits and pieces of icons across the sreen, for example in the control options, the arrows to browse up and down are inversed.
Second, when I try to play the screen goes dark expect for the health bar and the only way I found out for getting an image is to turn the hardware off (and I dont know what that's originally supposed to do).
Last but not least (and I know there are many threads on the subject) Garret is on steroids, the game speed is way too high. So I went back to the FAQ and found an answer turning on the v-sync (wich I did), Forcing 60 mhz (found that, it was already on) and tuning on the antialiasing (and that I didn't find perhaps because of my messed up otpion screens).
So I can play but it's nigthmarish and now I'm afraid to reinstall T2.

For Thief 2 try a brand new install with Tafferpatcher - it's the first thread in Thief Series General Discussion.

Thanks and for T1, any ideas?

I've got Thief Gold so can't comment on T1 or modified exes for it. However, I should check all your .cfg files to make sure that the drives and folders are all referenced correctly.
Thief Gold worked for me straight away in Windows 7 64 bit after using(

skip_starting_checksIt looks even better with DDFix and the Widescreen patch applied.

I tried using FlipTib and it did slow the game, a bit.
So I played a while but the guards a still zooming around making sneaking more a race than an art.

I use ATI these days but iirc from ages ago you can set anti-aliasing from the Nvidia control panel.

I found the control panel and indeed you can modify the AA and a lot of other thing, so I pushed/forec everything to max and the game is now graphicaly perfect, and the guards are still zooming around. I think I'm going to let it go and go become a monk in a place were there is no electricity.

Heh, recently I've been fortunate to have a
descent amazing gaming computer, with an AMD 64-bit processor and an ATI 4200HD graphics chip. Obviously, It's miles beyond any laptop I've ever owned, which is ironic, considering how much it (

However, despite it's best pros (Fog actually works), I'm having difficulty getting the graphics right. I've been able to get it running, but every DDFIX version I've used, looks terrible. When deciding between stability and graphics, I find myself aiming for the latter.
I think I'll try out 1.4.5 one more time, just to be sure.
(Some of my problems extend beyond this, though. Think I'll start my own thread and delve into this, more.)
