Not to hijack the thread, but there are a ton of good microbrews out there. Troegs is close to me, and I love their hop-headed style. Being in PA, I try to support PA micros (most of my sixtels are such), and US micros as much as I can
Yeungling has to be one of the best domestic beers I've had (I'm especially partial to the porter). That said, I drink imports almost exclusively.

I'm working on making clear ice today, but I didn't realize that four cups of boiling water takes several hours to cool off. This has become an all-day project.

THE HOT SCREAMING ORGASM
Coffee makes it "Hot", Vodka makes it "Scream"
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Vodka
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Kahlua
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Bailey's Irish Cream
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Coffee
* (optional, for extra "O") 1 Part (1/2 oz) Amaretto
Serve in Brandy Snifter, or Irish Coffee Mug.
Add hot coffee first to warm the glass, then add remaining ingredients. May be topped with small amount of whipped cream.
Multiples? Yes please!
*Note: The only place I’ve ever found that knows how to make this particular orgasm (and does it SO well) is TGI Friday’s in Cupertino, CA. I couldn't even find the recipe online, but have since added it to several bar recipe sites.
and...
THE HOT SCREAMING 'G-SPOT' ORGASM
My own personal variation of the above recipe... The ULTIMATE Orgasm!
The Grand Marnier adds the "G-Spot"
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Vodka
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Kahlua
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Bailey's Irish Cream
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Grand Marnier
* 1 Part (1/2 oz) Coffee
* (optional, for extra "O") 1 Part (1/2 oz) Amaretto
Prepare same as above.
I can honestly say that these two cocktails truly live up to their names!! :ebil:

Yeungling is a good macro-brewery - better than the A/B, Coors, and Miller. Their porter is probably their best beer, IMO, but is weak and watery compared to what is out there. None of Yeungling's beer compares favorably in flavor, aroma, and strength to good domestic microbrews. Granted, you can get a case of Yeungling for $10-15+ per case less than a similarly-styled microbrew, but I'm into quality over quantity.
When I first started drinking bourbon, it was intermittent because nothing grabbed me. I liked regular Jim Beam to an extent, but Wild Turkey better, etc. When I started drinking small batch bourbon (much like "small" batch beer from microbreweries), I realized what I had been missing. Although pricier, the quality and depth of the product makes the experience so much better.

What exactly do you mean? Molson? Heineken? Stella? Corona? Becks? There are tons of good microbrewed beers made in the US that kick the shit out of the more popular imports, for a mere $5 more per case. With a general statement like "I drink imports almost exclusively," it sounds like you might be brainwashed into believing that something from somewhere else is better than anything here. It also sounds like you have little to no experience with any domestic beer other than the mass-producers Anheuser-Busch, Molson Coors, Miller, and the like (and Yeungling, of course.) It also makes you sound like an ignorant beer snob wannabe.
If you want a great product, be willing to pay a little more for it. I like stronger beer (6-10% ABV), so I drink less of it, but I enjoy the taste much more than if I would buy cheaper beer and drink more of that.
For example, tonight I ate a pizzeria that has an amazing selection of beer - 24 kegs, 3 casks (hand-pumped), and hundreds of varieties of bottled beer. (
http://www.alsofhampden.com/beerlist.php) http://www.alsofhampden.com/beerlist.php The first one was a belgian strong style by Unibroue (Canada) at 10.5%. It was $7.50. The second one was a double IPA on cask by Moylan's (California) at 8.5%. It was $5.50. So, for $13, I had two beers that I had never had before, had the alcohol volume of drinking 4+ average beers, enjoyed the experience far more than if I had consumed four Yeungling drafts, and can add two more beers to my "like" list that I refer to when I eat out or when I'm looking to buy a case. One a microbrew, and one an "import".

What, no Buffalo Trace?
I also got my first taste of Irish whisky recently with Tullamore Dew, and I have to say I approve :thumb:
I don't like Buffalo Trace nearly as much as Knob Creek or Bulleit, or even Woodford Reserve. I think Bulleit is the best bourbon bargain out there, at least where I am located. Top-shelf quality for less than Makers Mark.
I haven't tried Tullamore Dew, but I like Jameson 18 yo limited just fine. :thumb:

Quick Q for the experts (Ruggums and company ;) ):
The appletini....
I have apple cider, I have some smirnoff vodka aaand some triple sec liqueur.
Ounces for each, plz?
I don't like my drinks -too- strong, mind you.
:)

1. Take 3 oz. of each,
2. pour them down your sink, and
3. drink something else.
Fer crissakes Duck, have some self-respect. You're not some douchette trying to pretend you're in Sex and the City, you're better than that. An appletini shouldn't come anywhere near your lips.

Agreed.
In fact, why mix at all. Good booze should be enjoyed as it comes from the bottle. STRAIGHT, no ice.
If you are going for the buzz, and most are, then get a gallon of EVERCLEAR, the dilutant of your choice and get wasted. The effect is the same without wasting good money on good booze.
